My gold maxi dress is just what this bleak day demanded. ( bleak weather and news headlines )
Weather projections are so unreliable lately! When I checked the forecast the night before a “real feel” of 73 was listed. However, mid-fifties temps and wind were served up instead. How happy was I to barrow my friend faux fox vest for this outfit!
Bold gold: color therapy!
Yes, I know the dress reads beige, but the gown has gold sequins and feels golden to me.
All items in this outfit are either old or borrowed. I am wearing mostly “shop your closet” outfits these days. The gold maxi dress was bought locally from a mom and pop store 4 years ago. These cool platforms are 5 years old and are more comfortable than they look!
Being resourceful, I chose a beaded belt as a necklace. It offered warmth and fun fringe at the bottom.
The silver satin adds some cool hues to my bold gold maxi dress.
Headbands have been trending for a while. To that I just say: Hah! This slow fashion blogger has literally been wearing them for 55 years. My braided headband is my favorite.
However, today white buds with a glint of shimmer adorn this 3-year-old piece. A full on flower crown is just not for me. A detail shot is below. By the way, I am loving the live focus option on my old Samsung Note.
Lets looks at the weather forecast !
Sharing clothes with friends is a great way to use your wardrobe more conscientiously.
If you barrow something, then you do not have to buy it. Think Rent the Runway, for free! Added bonus: good vibes!
Styling tip for Maxi dresses –
If a dress is too long, you can sometimes knot the bottom. This adds a fun texture, and makes it so that a taller friend, sister, or daughter can also wear this maxi. Can you see the knots now?
Romantic maxi dresses are trending, especially those floral numbers that read boho lux.
Ruffles and smocking details are in full bloom as well.
Consider me fan of this sort of dress. As well, I love a simple white maxi skirt, worn with a poet type blouse. Maxi skirts are especially versatile: one could wear it with a simple tee for a minimalist vibe. This is another look that I enjoy .
THIS WEEK, SAME OLE:
Celebrations and fun social outings help balance out the sadness of loved ones being ill. Dressing up seems a good way to take my mind off the news. No, I will not quit watching! This is not the time to tune out. I will, however, keep a good and balanced perspective. More than anything, gratitude fills my heart. Yes to focusing on that!
With that, I will close and wish you many things to be grateful for! XO, Elle
I just love the idea of sharing clothes with friends. It’s like doubling what you have the most inexpensive way possible.
Sending huge hugs!!

What a lovely dress! I agree, it’s fun to shop our own wardrobes and others! My friend and I sometimes swap bags to try out ones we are thinking of buying, haha! it’s a good way to know if it’s worth the investment!
Knotting a maxi dress is so clever too, I’ve done that a few times before, a great go-to since I’m petite!
Hope that you have had a wonderful weekend! We went to a wedding, it was so much fun 🙂

A golden beauty of a dress. You look stunning, a shimmering glitzy statement is a wonderful attribute to your wardrobe.

What a stylish way to wear the dress like that with those knots! Those shoes are fabulous, so 70s. I get a bit of a Farah Fawcett feel. Fantastic!
What a gorgeous gold dress! I love how you styled it. You look like a movie star.
Shopping my closet is my fav thing to do.
Oh wow this dress looks truly stunning on you. I love the “shop your closet” idea!
Have a great start to the week dear.

That faux fox vest is very convincing — and cute. You look great. As you note, the weather is so unpredictable now. Our seasons don’t tell us how to dress any more.
I’ve never thought of knotting the bottoms like that! What a fun and creative way to wear too-long dresses!

What a clever idea knotting that maxi dress’s hem is. As is using a belt as a necklace! Loving that floaty dress with the faux fox worn over it, a juxtaposition of seasons! xxx
What a wonderful outfit! We’ve both been wearing golds that read as beige – how synchronous! I introduced a coworker to slow(er) fashion this weekend, and I’m not sure that she got it, but if even a little sank in, that helps.
Knotting the bottom of that dress is a great idea that I’m totally going to steal, ha ha!
Hang in there, Elle! For every negative, there is a positive; we cannot have joy without pain too. Sending you sunny and warm vibes – we’re having lovely weather over here!
Beautiful Elle, I almost didn’t even notice those knots until you mentioned it, what a great idea! I think I thought it was just the style. This flowy romantic gold adorned dress is so pretty! Love it with the faux fur as well. If I watch some news in the morning, I dont watch at night and vice versa. It can get me in a negative mood. I am so ready for light and easy dresses, here it is 80!
have a great day

Wow, that dress is stunning! I love how you styled it too, Elle!
Raindrops of Sapphire
Oh that is a great dress! And I love it with sleeveless sweater over top it. A fun look for spring, though it has been on the cool side. But not worries in 3 weeks it will be hot and humid and will have to deal with that for 4 months. Joy!
