Holiday House NYC- Decorating for a Cure

One of my favorite winter events is the annual Holiday House Design Show in Manhattan’s Academy Mansion. They feature top-notch  interior designers and the proceeds go to fight breast cancer. This year, I visited with friends, and then returned 24 hours later,  to the Holiday House NYC,  for a photo shoot featuring Robin Baron Design and Young Huh Interior Design.

The mansion has four levels and many rooms. Each designer takes on a room, and the result is a splendid jewel box of interiors. In this shoot, ( there will be two posts ) I am in a splendid Living room by the utterly fantastic Robin Baron Design firm. From her website,  a good overall snap of an exquisite room!

About Robin Baron Design from her site. I will add that I love her motto, and her fabulous and engaging energy. She is as warm and lovely as she is talented.

Robin Baron, celebrity interior designer, lifestyle expert, and luxury home-furnishings designer, brings a striking sense of style to everything she does. With an enthusiastic personality and expertise in all things décor and lifestyle, Robin thrives on creating homes that are eclectic, unique and fabulous, while maintaining a warm and inviting atmosphere. Reflecting her motto that “Confidence Begins at Home”, she prides herself on her ability to capture her clients’ individual personalities in their homes.

A few snaps from my camera highlight some details. Below a pair of rock crystal mirrors with gilding . Note the textures on the walls! Below, and all remaining shots are my own,  taken my either Moi or Lina Rincón C. for The Elle Diaries .

An amethyst lamp looks like a jewel in the window, bordered by ikat drapery.

And now you will see me in the room, relishing the beauty of what surrounds me, and wearing a metallic pleated skirt, scalloped lace blouse, long mauve gloves,  a Swarovski crystal cuff and a “Vintage by Suzanne” pearl clutch.  Hair and make up by @shelley_cosmetolgist .

My earrings are vintage from 1stdibs.com, and my necklace is from a cancer charity shop. My funkadelic jeweled platforms were an eBay find from last year. I love jeweled shoes for Holiday functions.

The mixed media art above the mantel is fantastic, and I adore the wreath style sculpture in the fireplace. Below, I am being playful, hiding behind the fabulous drapery . It you are not having fun during a photo shoot then you are missing something. ( Yes, it is hard work too). The texture and pattern of the drapery is signature Robin Baron design , rich and sophisticated – with an elegant vibe that is not too precious.

You will observe there is a lot of glinting metal in the room , and that I am mirroring this theme with my metallic skirt, fish nets and crystal-rhodium cuff.  Notice the stunning rug under my feet,  also an ikat type pattern by Robin Baron Design.

This fluffy pillow is very inviting on the sofa, cozy and on-point.  I WANT !

Below I am in a spectacular Bosch kitchen with a sitting area, the space by design talent Young Huh. My photo below,  but information about Young Huh from the site:

Her philosophy is that each client has a unique point-of-view and her role is to transform that vision into reality while elevating it to its greatest potential. Well-versed in art and design history, yet with an ever vigilant eye on the popular pulse, Young incorporates ideas and styles from an expansive range of sources to create timeless design known for its classic proportions and eclectic, chic styling. Fluent in a wide range of styles from historic to contemporary, her interiors reflect her love of art and artisans, materials and textures.

If you love decor as much as I do and are in New York, you should definitely see this annual exhibit . This was a festive place to be. This really kicked off my holiday season! I also love the way decor trends overlap with fashion attire- more on that topic later.  For more inspiration check out the sites for The Holiday House, Robin Baron Design, and Young Huh Design.

What is your favorite thing about these rooms? Okay, I know you will have several,  so please share in the comments section! I hope you are enjoying this holiday season so far. It is snowing in New York as I write this!
