Holiday House NYC- Decorating for a Cure

One of my favorite winter events is the annual Holiday House Design Show in Manhattan’s Academy Mansion. They feature top-notch  interior designers and the proceeds go to fight breast cancer. This year, I visited with friends, and then returned 24 hours later,  to the Holiday House NYC,  for a photo shoot featuring Robin Baron Design and Young Huh Interior Design.

The mansion has four levels and many rooms. Each designer takes on a room, and the result is a splendid jewel box of interiors. In this shoot, ( there will be two posts ) I am in a splendid Living room by the utterly fantastic Robin Baron Design firm. From her website,  a good overall snap of an exquisite room!

About Robin Baron Design from her site. I will add that I love her motto, and her fabulous and engaging energy. She is as warm and lovely as she is talented.

Robin Baron, celebrity interior designer, lifestyle expert, and luxury home-furnishings designer, brings a striking sense of style to everything she does. With an enthusiastic personality and expertise in all things décor and lifestyle, Robin thrives on creating homes that are eclectic, unique and fabulous, while maintaining a warm and inviting atmosphere. Reflecting her motto that “Confidence Begins at Home™”, she prides herself on her ability to capture her clients’ individual personalities in their homes.

A few snaps from my camera highlight some details. Below a pair of rock crystal mirrors with gilding . Note the textures on the walls! Below, and all remaining shots are my own,  taken my either Moi or Lina Rincón C. for The Elle Diaries .

An amethyst lamp looks like a jewel in the window, bordered by ikat drapery.

And now you will see me in the room, relishing the beauty of what surrounds me, and wearing a metallic pleated skirt, scalloped lace blouse, long mauve gloves,  a Swarovski crystal cuff and a “Vintage by Suzanne” pearl clutch.  Hair and make up by @shelley_cosmetolgist .

My earrings are vintage from 1stdibs.com, and my necklace is from a cancer charity shop. My funkadelic jeweled platforms were an eBay find from last year. I love jeweled shoes for Holiday functions.

The mixed media art above the mantel is fantastic, and I adore the wreath style sculpture in the fireplace. Below, I am being playful, hiding behind the fabulous drapery . It you are not having fun during a photo shoot then you are missing something. ( Yes, it is hard work too). The texture and pattern of the drapery is signature Robin Baron design , rich and sophisticated – with an elegant vibe that is not too precious.

You will observe there is a lot of glinting metal in the room , and that I am mirroring this theme with my metallic skirt, fish nets and crystal-rhodium cuff.  Notice the stunning rug under my feet,  also an ikat type pattern by Robin Baron Design.

This fluffy pillow is very inviting on the sofa, cozy and on-point.  I WANT !

Below I am in a spectacular Bosch kitchen with a sitting area, the space by design talent Young Huh. My photo below,  but information about Young Huh from the site:

If you love decor as much as I do and are in New York, you should definitely see this annual exhibit . This was a festive place to be. This really kicked off my holiday season! I also love the way decor trends overlap with fashion attire- more on that topic later.  For more inspiration check out the sites for The Holiday House, Robin Baron Design, and Young Huh Design.

What is your favorite thing about these rooms? Okay, I know you will have several,  so please share in the comments section! I hope you are enjoying this holiday season so far. It is snowing in New York as I write this!

    1. The space is fabulous , wait until you see the rest of it, all so well done. Yes, the cost… high.. I am sure. what a treat to be here though!

  1. My favourite in these rooms is you. And you look as if you belong there! As if this is your house. Great outfit, beautiful interiors. What is missing though is the soul, the identity of the future owner. If you were to take up an interior like this and place it in your house, it would be distant and cold, no matter how beautiful it is. It needs the personal touches and “thingies” of the people who live in it. Which is why I can never understand how some celebritites buy a house turn-key and just start living in the setting which was created for them.

    1. I also don’t understand that phenomenon . But this fabulous room would be mine, it is very much my taste. A bit to pastel for my husbands liking, but totally gorgeous for me. And i would add thingies, right away! The decorator is talented, open and warm… you would like her. This does feel a bit like home because of her warmth. If only!

  2. I love the soft colour palettes here: the blush pinks, the rich amethyst, the terra cotta, set off with the gold and shiny elements. You fit into this perfectly, Elle, with your lace, metallic and shiny bits. You look absolutely lovely! I love this subtle, but also in-your-face blingy holiday look.

    1. I do also, I hope these photos did justice to this fabulous space. Yes, my shoes added some in your face bling! The necklace too was not subtle, but I hope it balanced. Wishing you a good week. see you soon!

  3. Loved your photos, dear Elle, really loved this house and the elegance of it, very sophisticated! You look fabulous, what for a great skirt, very festive and the sandals are also great! I confess I didn’t know Robin Baron, and it’s nice to learn and getting inspired here! The amethyst lamp is incredible and the picture I most liked was behind the curtains, so artistic! Hope you have a beautiful week, dear Elle! Hugs!
