I love to celebrate my birthday with my family and friends. It seems I like parties big and small, but most important are the people who make my celebrations special. Today I am in Sag Harbor boarding a sailing catamaran and wearing a nautically inspired outfit, that is punched up with some pom-pom trim and a fresh blue sky in the background! Summer is a time for celebrations! In the Hamptons, this generally means a party at a friend’s home or a lobster dinner at the beach . But this was a very special event, and I wore a beaded maxi, my version of a LBD. I added depth and detail with oodles of fringe; cocktail attire with a little bit of attitude! I hope you are enjoying your summer celebrations!
The Fourth of July Holiday is here and I am feeling both festive and ambivalent. It is hard to be a fashionista, and a conscientious citizen at the same time. SOooo, I wore red, white, blue and black.
How about you? Did you dress in the nation’s colors for the Fourth?
Trying to stay cool this Summer? I have some tips- lace up sandals that give your feet some extra air, and add style- distressed denim, airy blouses with elbow length sleeves, cool enough for the streets and covered enough for inside shopping and dining. A polka dot fan, too. Always accessorize !
I had a wonderful weekend in the Hamptons two weeks ago. The highlight was dinner at Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor with my family. The water view was calming, the food was fresh, locally sourced and delish; best of all- I felt as though I were a million miles away from the city!
A few weeks ago, I attended a fabulous charity luncheon to help the fight against animal abuse. The #Phlippine Animal Guardian For Human Societies, Inc. hosted an informative talk on this heart wrenching subject. Credit to #Korina Sanchez-Roxas, and #The foundation for Filipino Artists for their excellent work protecting our four legged friends. The stark darkness of the subject was muted, by the brilliant beauty of the #Rotunda, at the storied Pierre Hotel in Manhattan.
In this post I encourage what Refinery29 calls “bag twinning”. It is a style habit of mine for almost 30 years, Wear two bags at a time, keeping one close . This small bag, Chanel, in my case, is what holds my credit cards, and keys- the essentials. Other items go in the larger bag. Never fumble for keys in the abyss of a large bag again. You can also avoid pickpocketing, and now can feel good about buying a few more bags! 🙂
Porto continues to be compelling. The architecture, vistas, gardens and cobblestone streets are enchanting. Donning my new favorite sneakers, I am ready to brave the rocky streets and hilly terrain. My new circle bag, and little messenger, bought here in Porto for 30 USD for both. I also got my new blue shirt, with the… Read More Porto, Portugal : Still Abroad
I am a cranky, crappy traveler, but once I get to a destination, muscle down the fog of circadian rhythm mutiny, I fall in love with my chosen place. So it was in Porto, Portugal. We arrived in Porto, in the morning, well before the hotel was ready to take us in. They did take… Read More Elle, Abroad
Pardon my lamentably late post. These photos were taken during fashion week and a few weeks later. I am both happy and proud to be with my beautiful blogging friend Allie, of ALLIE NYC.com. Allie and I met during NYFW and had dinner together after the wonderfully inspired Verdad show. It is such fun to discover… Read More Allie & Elle
