As you know we are a bit past the mid-point of #NYFW.
I have attended many shows and have seen the city come alive with creative energy and glorious street style. The most entertaining shows were the ones at Playstation Theater, where the Carol Galvin Foundation hosted a Gala Runway show for cancer. I was pleased to attend and support this cause. The shows were spectacular!
I will do a separate post(s) on many of the designers who headlined there, so consider this a preview, and more of a #WIW post. My clothing choices on this day were simple and comfortable, lots of layers and texture. Kitten heels, in leopard, so I could walk comfortably.
This energetic evening including headlining designers including Mimi Tran, Fashion Icon Richie Rich, who impressed with his new collection CLICKS, Rutu Bhonsie, and NY Fashion Times 2016 designer of the year "Teen" BBTC Couture- (Bound by The Crown Couture) I can't wait to share the photos of these, but for now... details of my outfit.
An embroidered midi skirt is the focal point of this outfit. A cobalt sweater is tied around my neck, scarf style, in case it gets cold , and my fishnets flash a glint of sliver and add texture. My scarf is brocade and also shot through with metallic, was purchased at Encore, and is by Saldarini 1882 , an Italian luxury company known for its rich fabrications. I believe most of my readers are acquainted with my $3.00 round bag, purchased at a tag sale in East Hampton!
With my long hair, I am loving the headband trend! I chose some embellished ones for this festive week.
Some snaps below from the shows, while I wait to receive and edit the professional ones from Ali.
Some shots of the attendees: glimpses from the audience!
Below, either Bound by the Crown enthusiasts or models from that show, which was so well received and fun to watch. Adorable!
Below, the city that day, a perfect Autumn day specially ordered for NYFW!
So many magical moments that evening. Meredith O'Connor and Aaron Carter performed, as well as Jo Jo Siwa. More to come... I promise.
I will take a minute though to add some personal thoughts. This benefit was for cancer, and like most, I have lost friends and family to cancer, most recently my brother to leukemia.
As fabulous as this event was, cancer was addressed. Also this has been the anniversary week of 9-11, and as a country we mourn the turmoil and devastating losses from recent storms, and political unrest.
While I am celebrating creativity and fashion, I am also keeping the balance between reasons for joy and reasons for sadness and anxiety. I think you will understand that.
Sending wishes for safety from the storms, and love from New York City!
