It is finally hot in NYC, so what does any fashionista do? She floods the stores looking for wooly and warm things to wear for the coming fall. But the better thing to look for is what can be worn now and into the next season.
This was a quick, pull-on type of outfit that was planned only to the extent that it would be cool enough to wear outside, and warmer with the vest and beret inside where it is usually over air-conditioned. I would have liked this out better with a simple white or pale blue tee, but the graphic tee with the zipper is cute too.
As a key item for now and fall, I am loving the sleeveless blazer. I have worn it often and here is an older snap from my old post where I styled it with denim and a crisp white shirt and Hermes scarf tied at the wrist.
My sleeveless blazer is from Bolton’s. I can’t wait to style it for the warmer months. I chose a mini bag that I found at an Upper East Side store called Fox’s that specializes in designer off-price.
This bag looks a lot like Sophie Hulme’s Mini Box Tote bag. But it is not. Sophie’s is box calf, and this is more of a pebble-grained leather and is lined in red suede. Sophie’s mini in-lined in black. It was made well, in Italy, and I was thrilled to find it for about $60. The maker’s name, while new, in engraved in the bag, but the black letters on black are hard to read. It is light and roomier than it looks! I added a faux fur bag charm from H&M. I do have my eye of one of the Fendi bag charms, but this is cute for a buck!
Here is another look at the bag. You can also see my perforated flats, I really wanted these form DKNY, but they did not come in my size. So I found mine in the kids’ department online at Old Navy. The girl’s size three is a bit big so I added tweed socks.
My sleeveless blazer has three pockets, as does a version by YSL found at FarFetch. A less expensive option can be found here at 69% off and it is by Alexander Wang!
Have you noticed I am drinking a very green juice? It is nutrient-rich, and is mostly kale and spinach. I actually love this drink and I am sure it is one of the things that has helped me stay reasonably well with my autoimmune disease. (That and the walking that I do to get it 🙂 !
The afternoon ended with me on the rooftop terrace, finishing my drink, and listening to some music. Summer in the city can be really nice! Oh my beret; bought at a street fair for a five!

What fun. The sleeveless jacket you link to (Alexander Wang) is sold out. Because of you??? LOLI didn’t buy a sleeveless jacket I was trying on at Eileen Fisher as it was too similar to other things I have. But is is a nice item as you show so adequately.
Love the little bag.

I can’t tell if my last comment posted because I got a timeout error, but here it is again just in case:
Haha– I do know this all too well. It’s time for pre-fall right now! I am trying to hold myself back from any more summery purchases (unless the price is too good to pass up!). This blazer will be an excellent piece this fall. I think we are going to have a balmy season and you will be able to layer it for many more months!
thanks so much for persevering! Blogger’s plight, right? I have ben lusting over this fall season since last spring… There are some great buys right now, I would be choosey and get one or two! Yes a few blaming weeks ahead, which i like!xx, Elle

Well, I feel much better now. I recently made a quick fun trip to NYC and basically packed just summer black attire. After seeing how amazing you look in here I now realize I actually did fit in as a non-tourist.
Wow such a fresh casual city look!
