Beach outfits can be tricky at a certain age! However, beach ensembles are less tricky than a swim suit! This is why I am wearing a Gottex pareo and a Billabong cami for the little beach on Sag Harbor. A lot of coverage and some pattern mixing, as per my signature style!
I don’t sit long at any beach. Instead, I like to walk and see the boats at the wharf. On a sunnier day last week, I got this snap!
I purchased most of the items for my beach outfits in East Hampton at LVIS! Every piece was bought either second-hand, or from local and-or small businesses.
More beach outfits here and here .
In all beach outfits, I am wearing copious amounts of sunscreen! And I am smiling in each shot! I love Summer!
This weekend had a single sunny day, but was mostly cloudy with some rain. I was actually happy about this! Both of my adult children were home and we spent some quality time indoors, and with each other. We cooked a bit, and played cards. When it got cold I actually used our new fireplaces.
I recently replaced my woodturning fireplaces with gas ones, as my lungs can not handle the wood particulates from the original ones. So when the temps dipped down, I was thrilled to have a fire with my family !
The porcelain urns were also bought at LVIS. I saw comparable ones for a gazillion dollars. Ok, I do exaggerate a bit, but second hand shopping in this tony town does reap some fabulous rewards! My new pillow above is from Etsy. I like to shop small and local as best as I can, in both fashion and decor.
Below the vases came from the Retreat, where proceeds go to battered women. My wool pillow below is also from Etsy.
While in Sag Harbor, I did some shopping at a favorite resale shop and found this fabulous Dries Van Noten skirt. It was too large for me, but what a spectacular print. It was knee grazing and whisper light wool, and would be perfect paired with an eyelet cami for the beach . It is brand new with tags! Who says you can’t wear designer duds while sunning?
How pleased am I ! This shot below is a new-to-me straw handbag that just came in the mail ! This handbag is too structured for a beach look, but it lovely and you will see it soon on the blog!
Thrilled to be indoors with family, I only captured a few shots of the lovely terrain of East Hampton. Such lovely flowers and landscaping are typical of this beach haven.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE BEACH OUTFITS?
I know most women here wear a sheer tunic over a bikini and show a bit of yoga toned bodies They look sensational ! Do you wear cover ups at the beach, or just enjoy the splendid feeling of hardly any clothes in the hot sun? WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE DO WEAR YOUR SPF!
—— XOXO, Elle ——
What a lovely post! Thanks for the “trip” to East Hampton. I love your cover up outfit!
xx Darlene
You are most welcome Darlene!
welcome to my blog !

What a beautiful beach outfit! You didn’t buy the Dries van Noten skirt? Whaaa. And do I see a swimming pool there?
Thanks Nancy,
I would have but it was 3 sizes too big ! 🙁 Yes, there is a pool, but i only sit out 20 minutes a day, The house is open, with its of glass, and I can see it though, and that feels great.
Enjoy the week!
xoxo, Elle
I love the summer so much also, Elle!! It’s so refreshing not to be freezing cold all of the time!! But like you, I slather on the sunscreen when I’m going to be outside!!
You look amazing in this, and thanks for the trip to your place!!
XOXO

Suzanne
Thanks Suzanne,
I am very grateful to have a place outside the city where there is grass and trees!

Ooh, what a deal on the Dries Van Noten! I love your outfit, Elle – it’s so pretty and summery. I am not a beach person (the beaches here are not as conducive to sunning), and I haven’t worn a swimsuit more than 4 times in the last 10 years! Have a good week!
It was a fantastic skirt but way too big. I am also not a beach person. This is as close to a swimsuit as I get. And while I find the beach pretty I very seldom go !
I am a pool person, and take minimal sun – as I imagine you have surmised from my pallor!

Your outfit is adorable!! I also love all the other inspo you added in here.

Dear Elle. You look fabulous in your cover up outfit. You know that I love the beach too and that includes long walks, nice lunches, a swim…the list is endless really. The beach is just always a good idea, even on windy, cold or rainy days. I do love the interior of your place and can imagine you enjoying it to the max with your loved ones around you. Thanks for sharing all this with us. Love from the other end of the Atlantic. Lieske
You look absolutely amazing as always, Elle! Gorgeous!

This beach look is great, very young looking really. I like boy cut suits but they can be hard to find so many are so high cut up the leg. This can lead to a lot maintenance ahem. And your place in the Hamptons looks lovely how nice to have this as a getaway.

You look so gorgeous in your beach outfit! My go to is usually just a pair of shorts and a tank, but this is inspiring me to up my game. Also, I love all the bright decor. It’s so summery and you honestly just can’t ever be mad when your house looks that beautiful!

Catching up as I’ve been away for two weeks. You are looking totally fabulous in your amazing beach outfit. The only thing I’d ever be on a beach for is for walking, collecting shells and maybe, just maybe, dip my toes in the sea! I have a vintage bathing suit, but I’ve never even worn it … Your place in East Hampton looks amazing! Thanks for the little peek inside! xxx
Hi Elle,
I have never been to the Hamptons, so that you for introducing me to part of it. I love to walk and look at the boats too, your attire is so glam for the beach. I love your hat, sarong and bustier, beautiful friend.
What lovely furnishings as well. Since we just painted, i need to find some decor for the mantel, yours looks lovely!
Sounds just right, a day at the beach.
Have a great week!

Great outfit perfect for the Hamptons
Elle, your beach outfit is perfect and you look like directly from a magazine! I prefer tunics and scarfs on the beach but I have to admit I’m not too often on the beach as I prefer to watch what you do 🙂 How wonderful you can now enjoy a fireplace. This installation is such a great solution for you and I still see that your Hampton home is a dream.
