Covering NYFW was no picnic, despite the glamorous shots that will follow. The weather was either tropically hot or very rainy. Happily, I managed to attend some inspiring shows, but ended up missing far more that I was invited to see. Even as I battled a nasty bout of my autoimmune disease, I was able to witness and revel in the spectacle and glamour of the runway. I am grateful.
Day Two of NYFW was actually my first day, due to health concerns. Style Fashion Week New York was wonderful, but delayed quite a bit to the annoyance of many attending. In transit for an hour and ten minutes for a show that was less than a mile away was frustrating for me, but I was inside a Lyft and was dry! No doubt the abysmal weather was challenging. I met my friend Gerardo Vitale for photos, you may remember him from posts taken two years ago at NYFW.
Manhattan Center was the venue for Style Fashion New York and it is certainly beautiful in an old world sense. Below, and unless otherwise marked, photos by Gerardo Vitale follow.
This post will be just an overview as I continue to organize and edit more lengthy posts to follow. A combination of #WIW and some highlights, is the essence of this post.
Lets start from the beginning, as I get ready for the show. Outfit freshness was mostly achieved indoors, as by the time I arrived my hair was windblown and damp, my belt askew ! Glam? No, not whatsoever.
From home: ( and from my Camera phone! ) We start from the beginning !
I am wearing vintage Ralph Lauren and a corset belt from Dolce & Gabbana via Encore. Have you ever worn a belt as a necklace ? Above, that is what is around my neck !
Lots of drama here!
Novelty tights are such fun to wear and these below by Jonathan Aston London, via eBay.
Two shots follow; one indoors and one from the venue where my tights caused am appreciative stir! ( Not my legs, I do not have gazelle Greetje legs!)
Gerardo captured this shot! Standing next to Bille Blunt of Billie Blunt Magazine. I am squinting! Arg!
So many chic people here; I happily people-watch as Gerardo gets a snap before the show.
Some favorite images from the shows.
1- Drama, volume and texture in the season’s sharpest orange. Design by Adriana Sahar, photo by Gerardo Vitale.
2- Day three at the Society Fashion Week, a sunny appliquéd fav ! (My photo.) Look for more in a future post featuring photos by Oscar Herrara Photography. For Fashion week S/S by Kristi Fitzpatrick for GEORGE + GINGER:
3-Hirun Bangkok stands out with this flourish and inimitable exotic designs. More soon!

Covering NYFW was laborious but rewarding!
Meeting new people is always exciting. The energy at these shows is intense and has a compelling vibe. Seeing emerging designers is also quite inspirational !
When the shows are over for the day, I am tired and feel as if my fever has come back. It had; it was not just the warm vibes of NYFW. One needs to have stamina and a foolproof umbrella for covering NYFW!
Standing next to a model who can rock a bald head and simple street wear.
One quick snap before I go home to hydrate and rest!
I hope you enjoyed this brief post. Plenty of runway shots will follow in 3 posts to come. PROMISE!
I hope you are well dear readers!
For my friends facing the storm, I hope you are safe! I am thinking about you!

Yes the weather uuugggh. It is always challenging during NYFW, either boiling hot or raining and in February there is the polar vortex and blizzards. Not for the faint of heart. So mad I missed these shows but was booked at other shows. Love your look here. I need a good statement belt they are going to be big! Excuse the pun!

Such a fun outfit, although a shame that the time taken to get to the show was so long for you and that you weren’t able to do everything you wanted to – but health always comes first!
Hope you have been having a good week and have a nice weekend ahead of you 🙂

You look absolutely stunning. I love the outfit, especially the belt as a necklace! How creative and so unique. Also I don’t see squinting in that shot with Billie Blunt. Hahaha, no way, you look fabulous.

Elle, you can still look glamorous with wet hair and a damp day. i ADORE your outfit. Such a feast for the eyes with all of the pattern and texture. I am sure NYFW is so exhausting- there is just so much going on, and you end up rushing all over the city trying to see everything (and on time)! I love your shots- you looked super glam!

NYFW is always a great show no doubt, you looks so cool and specially your text printed leggings attracts me so much.
Corina,
Thank you so much. I’m so glad you enjoyed the coverage. The tights were indeed so much fun to wear.

Oh.. you get invitations for NY fashion shows…. Oh my.. That never happened (or will happen) to me haha. You did well.
I nearly bought a belt to wear as a necklace, similar to your but without the buckle. And it was by D&G. As it was black I decided against it. Usually I want a necklace to add colour.
Greetje
Never say Never! I agree a necklace is best in color ! Especially with your fair complexion!
Happy weekend Greetje!
