Sweater weather arrives each autumn and brings a smile to my face. This shot, taken two weeks ago when the weather was unseasonably warm, finds me happy to continue the sweater weather vibe. This old gem is a vintage plaid to boot. Pun intended, as my boots are raspberry suede!
When temps are in the high sixties, everyone is in a good mood.
Passersby commented on my boots with very nice things to say.
Comfortable boots are necessary with stubborn back pain, and these berry boots add a fun pop of color to the neutrals.
Very recently, I mentioned Housing Works, as it is a great place to shop and give back at the same time. The post was Leopard Coat Love. Yes, I was happy to hear many of my followers also shop there! My wool bag was around 14.00 USD and is light weight, also good for my back, and so unique.
I love owning wool bags, as they last forever. Fabulous bling factor elevates this bag and can make it a good choice for upcoming holiday parties, as well as this causal day.
Matchy -matchy much? I did fall in line with the same shade of raspberry.
Some of you may know that at one time I designed and made jewelry. You may not know that I have a wealth of knowledge about gemstones and am especially fond of colored stones. Spinel has a hardness of 8, just one notch below sapphire and is under appreciated in my humble opinion.
Red spinel is transparent and rivals ruby for its rich red tones. It is less expensive than rubies, and rubies lately, are routinely treated. Below a crimson spinel ring in an art deco setting.
Did you know that emerald, aquamarine and morganite are all of the same beryl family? The pink ring above features an oval morganite, a rose-tinted beryl, surrounded by pink sapphires. If you are in the market for rings, these stones are good choices. Just make sure that none of the rings are treated in any way, and always buy from reputable vendors. Both of these were worn that day.
Sweater weather is typically for Spring or Autumn , when a light knitted layer is all you need for warmth.
When you buy a sweater please look for natural fabrics and avoid polyester! Acrylic can last a while, so it is ok for a synthetic, but polyester sweaters will pill in New York Minute. This vintage sweater, new to me for about 10 years, is acrylic .
I bought this sweater in a Westchester county shop that benefits cancer care. Wool and cashmere sweaters are best.
Shop eBay, Etsy or the Real Real for good vintage sweaters in plaids or trending Christmas designs. Yes, it is that time of the year already ! It is even better to shop local and second-hand if you can. While you are at Etsy, please visit Suzanne’s well curated shop !
So dear readers, are you craving plaids sweaters? Or are you on the hunt for holiday sweaters? Certainly, gift-giving season is upon us, so please choose with care. We have but one earth! A quick but important aside; I wish everyone safety from the ravaging fires in California, and my heart goes out to anyone affected by this tragedy.

It’s much too hot here for knits and layers but I do love this on you! I really like the matching bag and boots too. I can see why those boots got compliments, they are stunning!
Hope that you are having a lovely weekend 🙂 We are having another quiet and relaxing one here.

I am such a sweater lover, Elle. I’m sure it has something to do with being a knitter, and it’s hard for me to buy them when I have a basement full of yarn ready to be used. But knitting a sweater is SO time consuming, that if I see one I LOVE, I have been buying them!

I just love the way you put this whole outfit together. Love the plaid sweater , And the pop you get from the raspberry boots and bag.
I would never think that would go together
But you made it work beautifully. I do like the pink spinel , thank you for the education.
Always beautiful,
Cheers
A seemingly simple but very attractive outfit. Well styled. Wishing you a painless back.

Great look. The boots deserve attention.
Love the rich shade of those boots.
I wish your back well. I was very close to having back surgery for many years and I know how debilitating it can be.
I’m with you on wool sweaters lasting the best. Merino wool is one of my favs.

I must admit I’m not really a sweater girl. Not that I do not love them, but they do not agree with my body temperature 😉 Yours is lovely, though. But I’m really smitten with those divine raspberry boots and wool bag! What a wonderfully vibrant colour. No wonder people complimented you! xxx
oh Ann, Yes I get that! I get quite warm too !
Happy weekend!
