Christmas party dresses help me make that mental leap into the festive holiday season. You recently saw my sequined dress that is part of my line up . This one was thrifted from Housing Works and Is by Opening Ceremony, a brand I love. I wore it last week to meet Allie of Allienyc.
This is a body hugging dress, but it is comfortable with the stretchy fabric. I love the mermaid style, it lends some drama.
I wore this dress with a plaid cashmere coat by Jill Sander, bought at consignment years ago for less than a Zara one, made in a polyester blend!
Second hand shopping always pays off for me. Below, this photo is a quick one as I was head out!
I added houndstooth tights from a Dollar store in downtown Manhattan .
This dollar store will be out of business soon as Target is moving in. For now it is still hanging on as a rare mom and pop store.
My shoes are from eBay, and they are Naturalizer, a brand that saves me and my aching back well!
Cold temperatures were hard to deal with , so I added a faux fur scarf by Asos, thrifted in East Hampton. Furry stripes were a fun add-on, and also lent some holiday cheer!
I love the Kimberly Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The restaurant has an alcove that is quiet, and the decor is lovely. Scarlet walls are the perfect backdrop for the Holiday season!
Headline news is so depressing that I truly delight in the cheery mood of the holidays. Dazzling lights adorn the city, and I truly enjoy wandering around the city, just gazing at all of the beauty and spectacle of NYC Christmas displays.
When you think about Christmas party dresses , I bet you don’t think of a black dress !
BLACK IS THE PERFECT CANVAS HOWEVER FOR ADDING BLING, AND IN MY CASE, NOVELTY TIGHTS AND A LONG NECKLACE.
So Christmas party dresses can be whatever you choose, and whatever brings you joy. Paillettes are fun to wear, as are a velvet skirts and a Christmas sweater. Of course you can leave the dress at home and wear a jumpsuit! Flowing trousers are also a good idea as
BABY ITS COLD OUTSIDE!
What are you wearing this holiday season? Also, Happy Hanukah to my readers who are Jewish ! May your season be Merry and Bright!
—— XOXO, Elle——

And your love of fun tights is so refreshing!!

Dear Elle. Such a stylish dress and so good of you to remind us that buying second hand is worth doing. In your case it has so often paid off. You are an expert I assume. Thanks for sharing all these wonderful photos. It really brings along the Xmas spirit. Love, Lieske
I’m such a huge fan of Pied de Poule! Such a great elegant print.
What a beautiful little black dress! I like your plaid coat with it and the printed tights are so fun! How great you got to meet Allie 🙂
Hope that you are having a great weekend 🙂 We spent the day yesterday at my parents catching up with family, it was so fun 🙂

What a great outfit for a holiday party – you look so festive, Elle! I have an Opening Ceremony piece, and they are always so unique. I love the addition of the patterned tights to a plain-coloured outfit (you’ll see that great minds think alike, ha ha!). I opted for a steel metallic dress for my first party of the season – that’s usually as close as I go to black. Wishing you a happy week ahead – thank you for the lovely pictures to get us into the spirit!
I love your dress and cute tights!! I also love the coat!!
It is good to see you in a lighter mood. I love your long necklace.
Secondhand shopping really is the best.
I just watched Before The Flood with Leonardo DiCaprio on Netflix tonight. If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it.
So pretty! I love mermaid-style dresses and gowns. And the tights are a smart choice.
I love to get glam during the Holiday season! Your dress is beautiful and I love how you added the fun and colorful faux fur and tights. I am looking for a pair of black pumps that are comfy too but stylish. Like yours! Your hair looks lovely too!
Happy Holidays!

Love your thrifted dress and coat. It just goes to show that you don’t have to spend exorbitant amounts of money to look a million dollars, which you certainly do. Love the quirky hounds-tooth print tights and your delightful faux fur scarf. I have to admit that I’m not in a festive mood yet. Last year went so fast – with quite a bit of hurdles – that it’s almost unbelievable it’ll be Christmas in just over two weeks … xxx
How fun with a Christmas party! And love that dress, the peplum detail is really elegant which adds a nice twist to it all. Have a lovely week babe! Xx

Elle you look gorgeous in your black dress. I am in love with your tights 🙂
Have a great time, XOXO Tina
Thanks Tina!
Such fun to wear!
kisses, Elle
I am wearing a wine-colored jacquard high-low dress with black tights and black suede, peep-toe wedge heels. I’ll also wear a mabe pearl necklace and pearl and diamond earrings. For warmth, I’ll wear a silk and felted wool wrap from Italy.
Thank you for all your inspiration!
Gosh that sounds gorgeous! Maybe pearl and diamond earrings – a favorite combo!

And the right kind of bling. I have no idea yet what I will be wearing. But I am sure there is enough in my wardrobe.
