My Christmas week outfits are varied and diverse this year. Hubby and I had a number of holiday parties to a attend. I will admit that dressing up was really fun! I was planning on wearing the dress below to his annual work party. I had terrible pack pain, so I ended up at home in comfy pjs instead ! No glitter and shine that day!
It was the perfect Christmas party dress, styled with the red shoes pictuted above. I did get to wear it to dinner later that week. I spent most of Christmas week in Manhattan.
I was not well enough to travel to Anguilla . This is where my sisters, nieces, nephews, and grand nephews were.
Also there was my son, daughter and his fiancée . We did Facetime and that was very nice. FaceTime really adds a nice window into somewhere else!
The first of my Christmas week outfits was actually rather simple.
But it was not plain as I did add a lot of jewelry! One of the necklaces is one I made years ago. Everything I am wearing is vintage, except for my T-straps pumps!
Jeweled hues popped my outfit , as the strand of gem stations were composed of many colors; the blue hues came from sapphires and iolite, the red from garnets and ruby.
Leafy tsavorite garnets lent some holiday green. Baroque pearls added both ivory, misty grey, and golden hues.
The second necklace I did not make. It came from my friends at KCSignatures!
Sounds expensive, right? I bought the stones years ago for actually very little, and then made it myself! As well, my thrifted items were almost free. My little bag only cost three dollars from a tag sale years ago!
I suspect you are tired of hearing about this. The point is you don’t have to spend a lot to look good. Shopping your closet is good for the planet too!
My second outfit is vastly different with metallic tweed ( made for Barney’s and bought at consignment ) layered over a folkloric embroiled shirt. A gold belt added some festive sparkle. Red faux fur ensured that I would look party ready and stay warm!
Christmas week outfits can indeed have different vibes, and ALL can be festive.
You have seen this vest paired with a vintage Oscar de la Renta dress. More recently I wore this vest over a coat, on the way for dinner with Allie of allienyc.
What a wonderful week I had with small gatherings only. Air travel is very difficult for me, and not recommended by my doctors because of my immune status. I do not feel sorry for myself though.
Truly, I do feel like I can go a bit east, west, south or north to feel like I am somewhere new. This is what I love most about Manhattan life!
Feel like traveling to Italy? Go to Little Italy! A yen for China? Off to Chinatown in lower Manhattan ! All I have to do is walk a bit, hail a taxi or call a Uber!
Taxi!!
This was a few years ago! You may remember it, as it is still a favorite camel coat.
Celebrate this holiday season with an outfit that you already own, if possible.
Buy second-hand, shop small and always shop with heart ! Have a great week.

So much of the “yes” in your outfits comes from your exquisite accessorizing and your mastery of colour, Elle. That multi-strand necklace looks like it was pulled right off a vintage Christmas tree. Wonderful looks! Sending much affection to you, on the other coast!
Thanks so much Sheila! It does have a Christmas tree look! I am sending buckets of love your way!
Yes, I feel it!

I’m not sure if you saw my last comment…
I did, I am sorry, I am slow to respond some times as being on my laptop requires an ouchy sitting position !

I love that you aren’t allowing your disease to define you and you keep a positive attitude. That shows great strength. I admire that.
Love all the eclectic vibes.

So sorry to hear that you were unwell, and that your Christmas celebration plans were scuppered by your back pain! Sending you lots of healing vibes from Belgium! I love the metallic tweed dress layered over the folkloric blouse, and topped by that fabulous red faux fur vest. In fact, I love that vest in all its incarnations. It’s looking quirky, fun and chic worn over your coat! You’ve got such amazing sense of style, Elle! xxx
Thank you very much Ann!
We both have an eye for the unusual ! I am fine with not going , so grateful that I could just spend some time with friends and hubby!

I love tweed but it’s not available a lot, but…..yes I found a pre loved tweed skirt!. I can’t fly either, because of my lungs, but we drive by car and get anywhere we want to go!
Flying is pretty dreary these days so car travel can be wonderful. But i am haven trouble with that! Your holidays outfits have been so gorgeous too sweet friend!

Hi Elle, It looks like you had a lot of fun wearing that cute red vest. What a perfect Christmas acessory. I especially loved it with the skirt and those sparkly booties – Michael Kors? Happy 2019! Cheers, Deborah
Thanks so much Deborah!
The red vest was warm! No, I am not sure whose they are, as I have put insoles in.. But not designer. I am pretty sure they were an eBay find and are about 4 years old!
Happy week ahead!
