Rich winter colors add depth and comfort to a cold day. When one adds a pop of color, as I did with the handbag, it helps lighten the day. Step out this winter in a color palette that feels inspiring. Then, add some vibrance and chase away these blustery blues!
Color palettes are a matter of preference. However, everyone loves lush velvet or ultra suede in such rich winter colors as burgundy, mustard, spruce green and even the dusty rose shade I wear above.
The leggings are ultra suede and are many years old. Sueded fabrics feel so cozy on. Furry jackets up the comfy factor!
To dress up a look add heels as I did, with the YSL shoes that I bought second-hand. It would be easy to dress this down as well. Can’t you just picture this look with furry winter boots and a fuzzy beret?
True teal and muted rose are rich winter colors that feel almost neutral.
Soft wool ruffles and textured fur add some pizazz to this cold weather outfit. The jacket Is Valentino, and I bought it at either Micheal’s or Encore. Which one? Honestly I am not sure!
I do remember the super steep discount of this piece , and thinking that a Zara coat would be priced in the same range.
I am sure you noticed the different lighting in each photo. Stepping twenty feet was wise and proved to be a much sunnier spot. So many people on the sidewalk that day! Therefore my photos are not consistent in color, and the resolution suffered in the darker, but less busy side of the street.
Light leaks were added liberally to add some life to this dull city street. A cloudy day is a challenge, especially in waning light. Photo editing is calming for me however. Some of these photos are not up to snuff. Please forgive, as the outfit is nice, IMHO.
Platform shoes give my vertically challenged frame some height ! When a platform is added, the incline is not so steep that is hurts ! However, I would not wear these on a city walk, ( except for a BRIEF photo shoot). These are dinner shoes only !
My turquoise “kelly” style bag is an older eBay find. Everything
Everything that I am wearing is either second-hand or bought locally. Nothing I wear today is new. I have been shopping my closet ladies and gents!
Below a close up of the jacket, sunnies, and gloves.
Rich winter colors are lovely in home decor as well. Let me show you two rooms that have similar color schemes.
Decor is a passion of mine as well, and these room also combine dusty rose and teal. Furry textures add a winter hide away coziness.
From HomeBNC, check out this artistic room. Do you also see a similar vibe?
Yes, now how about this sweet oasis ?
Some rich winter glam for your neck? Look not further ( but do not buy, lol ) than this Bulgari necklace from my favorite jewelry site, 1stdibs.com. Seriously, it is magnificent, but one could buy a car for this pice. And yet, I just had to share it!
Rich winter colors from prior posts:
Featured just about one year ago, cobalt blue and emerald green, with ebony and taupe. This coat was a gift from my friend!
What are your favorite winter colors? Do you wear mostly black, like the prototypical urban fashionista? Or do you add some warm and saturated tones to your ensembles?
LET ME KNOW! YOU KNOW HOW!
Furthermore a side note: for those affected by the government shutdown, and especially to those who continue to work if able, I send compassion and gratitude !

Oh yes, I do know you love colorful bags and you have such an elegant collection!
Stay cool friend!

I am such a fan of colors, colors and more colors. Sometimes I think I need to calm down and incorporate some neutrals, so I try. But I’ve been slowing getting rid of the black tops from my closet. It’s just not a good neutral against my skin coloring!!

I know you are and how I love to see you wear every shade ! Black can be great, with a colorful scarf!

Beautiful coats, all of them! The short jacket is sensational. The blue and black outfit with green beads is superb! Like you, I love colors, but I also was craving a neutral coat that would go with everything, so I found it. 🙂
I am so glad you found a neutral coat, it is a must have classic!
Yes, i know and appreciate your love of color and pattern !

What a stunning jacket! And the turquoise bag is magnificent! I do wear colors these days but I also love a lot of black. But I wear black in Summer too!
You look so gorgeous in black ! But colors are nice to wear when the skies are so grey!

Great outfits. Love the shoes in the first one.
Thanks ! I can see why you would like them! Aren’t they fun! ( if difficult to wear!- lol )

I love the bright pop of colour provided by your teal handbag, but I am head over heels with the Valentino jacket. That is just utterly fabulous, and the muted rose such a darling colour. It’s not easy taking great photos this time of year due to lack of light. It’s a struggle to find a spot with good lighting, isn’t it? Scrolling through your looks from prior post, I think the last one is especially striking. I do tend to wear slightly richer colours in Winter, but colour is certainly a must for me, as it works as a… Read more »
Yes, color is a great mood enhancer ! Thank You Ann! The jacket is pretty and I appreciate your kind words, as always !
Yes, good light…hard to find!

I love this jacket! The details are amazing. As far as colors go, I gravitate towards neutrals like beige and grey but love a good pop of pink too.

Great round up of coats. The blue one in particular is a stunner. And that room from HomeBNC is so up my alley.

Thank you Allie!
The blue is quite thick and warm!
I agree, that room is cozy!

They all look chic and stunning
Thank you Jackie! That is so kind!

Oh, that jacket is stunning – not surprised at the quality in the close-ups, it just looks so much nicer than a Zara jacket would! I love those platforms, and totally agree about the pitch of the heels. (I have big feet (9.5ish) so the pitch is easier for me than someone with much smaller feet).
Wishing you some sunshine to go with those saturated colours, my dear! Be well! Thank you so much for your good vibes.
and thank you for your wise words and quiet good cheer. Yes, the jacket is a find and I am so pleased to have it!

I love how you beat the blues by adding something blue! Fantastic handbag and your shoes……super! Glad you were so honest about only wearing them to dinner. I sometimes get the feeling I am the only one having shoes and dinner-only shoes. Love as always, Lieske
Oh no… dinner shoes only.. or in a place that is carpeted…but not the city streets! ( and not for very long!)
yes, to beating the winter blahs!
xo, Elle
I love every outfit in this post. Really very good!!!! Kuddos my dear. And yes I can understand that those platform shoes are not for shopping 😂.
Greetje
OH! I could shop in these ! In a carpeted mall and for 5 minutes! LOL !

As always, Elle, you look fabulous! Love the bag, love the entire look!
Raindrops of Sapphire
Tank you Lorna!
I am so very glad!

You know I love bright colors too! I love that jacket with the ruffles and style, so lovely on you! The bright structured bag is the perfect touch for these grey days! Looking beautiful as always friend! I always loved the combination of rose or blush pink with grey and your bedroom decor is so soft and pretty! My hubby has me choose the colors at home too.. 🙂
Have a wonderful week!
stay warm!
