Feather trimmed accessories, and chic clothing items have been with us for a while. However, the popularity of these items is soaring.
Fringe, feathers, faux fur and even wooly loops lends wispy texture to year-round dressing. Perhaps in these heavy times, it is the ethereal lightness that draws us to these wispy feathers?
If you are like me, you might be overwhelmed with headline news. However dire these are though, I find individual encounters with my fellow New Yorkers utterly fantastic ! SO I can dwell on that and of course indulge in the whimsical styles I share here today.
Recently, I shared some clothes with my friend, and in the process, we did a photo shoot of outfits we created this way. Wearing her tulle skirt and her ostrich feather top, I felt totally glam, even in the hallway !
Below, I borrowed a coat from a friend.
Share and share alike!
Feather Trimmed accessories are fun to wear!
Harkening back a few years, I delight in the soft fringe of feathers that trim my plaid scarf . See how much it adds to a simple white satin dress?
Every item of feather trimmed accessories was bought second-hand ! Do try to conserve by buying this way when possible.
Valentino created this fabulous bag with feathers and a semi precious scarab closure. I scored it at Michael’s. Topped with a tortoise handle this CHANEL bag is a favorite.
TIP: store feather trimmed accessories carefully. Allow plenty of room so that the feathers are not crushed!
Two looks featuring this bag are next. Allie of AllieNYC, recently took the shot below. Being able to see old friends is the best way to lighten your mood! Also, you should see her new updated theme as wells her stellar street style snaps! Swoon!
By, the way my entire outfit is second-hand except for the sunnies, which were bought locally. The coat is Jil Sander.
A moody vibe below in this older shot.
I am wearing a polka dot dress by Betsy Johnson, bought at LVIS in East Hampton .
Also blowing in the wind, is a color blocked Armani silk velvet scarf.
Six years ago I was on the rooftop wearing this heavily layered outfit. The ensemble features a BluMarine sweater skirt and a children’s crushed velvet coat.
Attending a formal event? NYFW? I wore this to a bridal show. The plumed peach top was an eye catcher !
Shopping this LOOK ? For inspiration these items from Shopbop are fun.
I am not including links, so you do not feel compelled to shop.
This trend is easy to DIY!
As you have noticed these photos span many year and many seasons. That is the point. Texture is always in style. While the feather trimmed trend is buzzing, please understand that it can be a slow fashion term item as well. Quality pieces in this trend, will be treasured forever.
Dear readers : What do you think of this feather trimmed trend?

—— XOXO, Elle ——
I think feathers add a touch of whimsey to anything!! I’ve seen some shoes with the decoration, and might need to get some.

Those older photos are fun! And so beautiful of course. And you wear feathers very well! Have a good week Elle!
While I’m not sure I could do the denim jacket with those statement sleeves the bags and the earrings are so fun! I will have to keep my eye out for feather earrings here as they look so cute 🙂
Hope you are having a nice start to your week! It’s another busy one here!
The weekday wear linkup is live on my blog, I’d love you to join! 🙂

Cool collection of feathery photos Elle. Love, Lieske
Wow, wow, wow! Your feathery outfits is beyond amazing, Elle! My absolute favourite is the pale pink velvet skirt with the crushed velvet coat. I love the slightly faded colours in that photograph. Very artful! xxx
Elegant chic absolutely beautiful
Oh, these feathers are so much fun! I have had a few feathered garments over the years, but I have to watch them around Vizzini – he is such a silly cat. He always wants to eat them.
I hope you are well, Elle! Sending you good vibes!
