Every August my sister’s beau charters a lovely sailing catamaran and invites friends and family to celebrate her birthday via a sunset sail around Sag Harbor. It is always a splendid event, with a wonderful catering staff, and the weather is almost always good; this year was perfect!
What to wear to a party that is on a breezy boat when the temps dip almost 20 degrees from the docking 78 degrees to 61 degrees after the sun sets – dramatically and beautifully on the water?! Well, I am wearing this:
Of course, my shoes would be off once I step on board, and my daughter has a thick pashmina in navy blue- of course- for later. The shoes, by the way, are not GUCCI, they are Hushpuppies, bought in Portugal and they fit like a glove!
I never arrive early enough to get a snap of the gorgeous boat, so I got this image from the website Heron Yacht Charters. This is not sponsored, but they do a fantastic job!
Below, my family and friends are aboard and having fun!
For health reasons I did not stay aboard for the sail but did say hello to everyone! I get pretty seasick from my autoimmune disease as it affects my inner ear. I was able to go last year, and got to be onboard for a bit this year, so no complaints from me!
A wave goodbye! BON VOYAGE !!
A glimpse of the outfit, earlier, in Bridgehampton: Not my best shot, but it is good to view an outfit in a different light. Yes, it is breezy, even here! The photos are courtesy of hubby!
My white skinny crops are J Brand and were thrifted at LVIS. My pom-pom trimmed tunic is a TJ Maxx buy from the “coverup” section- the best place for summer dresses on a budget, just watch the sheerness! The top was 19.99. It is natural fiber and well made. The brand is pictured below along with a close-up of my necklace, made from an earring via KCSignatures.com. Above my studded envelope clutch was also thrifted at LVIS in Easthampton, and is made by Loeffler Randall. Here is another clutch from the same company -on sale- that is embroidered, trendy, and so cute!
Another shot of the tunic. This also would be great as a beach cover-up, as intended, but I like it here with cropped pants, too.
So that is another chapter on my ongoing birthday month! Honestly, I am happy to go home after this brief and wonderful visit and have a quiet dinner with my husband! There can be too much of a good thing, after all!
How do you celebrate your birthdays?
Quietly, with friends and family or a big and festive party? Let me know. You know how!
This is such a lovely way to have a celebration. I love the color combination of your top- it suites the weather and your activities in there.
