Happy Tuesday Loves. I think I am one of the few savoring these last, warm summer-like days. The sunny warmth lulls me back to a wonderful summer, and speaking of looking back- obvious seque here – I am featuring my outfit that I wore to last week’s DapperQ runway show.
This is a bold look, especially for someone my age. It is fairly covered up, save the sheer sleeves, but the textured tights, – plum opaques + metallic fishnets add some drama, as do my funkadelic platform boots that boost my hight 6 inches! I love to be taller! I was going to a show that would be chockfull of fashionistas and assumed correctly that the attendees would be young and eccentric. So my choices fit in the setting well, but was not the main reason for the styling decisions.
Sometimes I just feel like dressing up and being bold.
Photo of tall and eccentric booties below. You may hate them, I would understand that. They are extreme, but how fun to be less vertically challenged!
BELOW, THE PHOTO HAS POORER RESOLUTION- GO FIGURE- BUT YOU CAN SEE MY OUTFIT IN IT’S ENTIRETY HERE. I SPORTED A BRAIDED HEADBAND, THAT I THINK MANY OF YOU THOUGHT WAS MY ACTUAL HAIR, AND A CONTINUATION OF MY BRAID. NOT!
WHEN I SAY EASY PEASY, I MEAN IT. MY HAIR TOOK ABOUT 90 SECONDS TO BRAID, AND ADD THE HEADBAND. VOILÁ! ITS BEEN A VERY BUSY WEEK, AND SHORT CUTS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
A CLOSE UP OF THE HAIRSTYLE AND SIMPLE MAKE UP ( EYELASH EXTENSIONS AND EYEBROW GROOMING BY @shelly_cosmetologis , AT THE KERATIN BAR ON THE UES OF MANHATTAN.) SHELLY IS MY HAIRDRESSER WHO KEEPS MY HAIR #khaleesiblonde ! HAH! THIS IMAGE WAS SNAPPED AS A CANDID IN AN UBER…I WAS PREOCCUPIED…
THE BROOKLYN MUSEUM WAS LOVELY. I WILL GO BACK SOMETIME WITH HUBBY TO SEE IT MORE FULLY. BELOW A SNAP OF TWO PAINTINGS THAT SPEAK TO ME.
And below 3 snaps of me in the museum before the runway show.
Below I am almost as ethereally bisque as the statue. Someone wore her SPF this summer!
Above I was just having fun. I am rather spirited if you get to know me! Below a gorgeous bag that I got at the Retreat Boutique in Bridgehampton, NY. It is grey wool flannel, embroidered and sequined. Plus, it was a steal at $18.00. I love to shop there , as the proceeds go to support shelters for battered women. I am very careful where my dollars go. My dress is from a local shop that is a small chain of 5 stores, also a priority for me.
I know you tire of hearing it, but please #shopsmall and #shoplocal when you can. It is important, now more than ever .
I bought my Swaworski cuff on Etsy, another way to support small business. I designed my ring, and had my friends at KCSignatures set it, finding the perfect mandarin garnet to compliment the ruby that I bought long ago before these stones were treated so routinely and before they were so ghastly expensive!
My other rings are eBay finds, again, small businesses and -or supporting individuals who are selling as a means to provide income. I don’t mean to preach, but we can and should vote with our dollars.
I want to thank @Ali_morf for photos
