Today I feature a gingham tie front dress in black and white . Mother Nature helped me greatly with this post by adding sunshine and natural light! Tropical prints always look well with gingham checked dresses, as do florals. Therefore, I added my bag from Celine, seen last here. Pattern Mixing is essential with gingham.
My Gingham Tie front Dress :
Chanel earrings and handmade sunnies by Krewe added some nice finishing details. My lovely Celine bag was a gift from a dear friend! The stacked rings are from various wedding anniversaries. So much sentiment in this outfit; on this day as I think of my mom, my friend, and my husband.
The bow tie detail is a flattering style. It suits my hourglass frame. Black and white are time-honored , and I think this tie front gingham check dress will be both a new favorite and a classic , as time goes on. I love the button up style and the length that grazes the knee.
Ferragamo bow sling-backs were a natural add-on and were comfortable on my rooftop deck. This feminine detail is consistent with this ladylike look. See them below with a single flower in the flower box. All we need is one! A perfect match to my bag! Happy coincidence!
Sunshine galore and natural light leaks!
My late mother taught me how to sit like a lady. How I miss her, and yet, I think she is somewhere smiling down at me for remembering her, and her valuable lessons, which go well beyond style.
Do You recognize these shoes? I have had them for 6 years and they remain a favorite of mine. Purchased on Ebay years ago, I was thrilled that they fit so well! Too much sun throws shadows on my face below, and washes out the shot a bit, but this photo shows the whole outfit!
Such a different vibe with just one accessory change. Determined not to take myself so seriously, I also had some snaps taken with these fun glasses! I will always be a bit playful and a positive spirit, very much as my mom was!
Now that should leave you in a good mood!
How do you wear gingham?
What is your favorite way to style the gingham check?
BY THE WAY, I BOUGHT THIS DRESS ON GILT.COM AND IT IS STILL AVAILABLE! CHECK IT OUT! I JUST HAD TO SAY THAT!
I do wear gingham but not enough. Funnily I have been following Suzanne Carillo styling a long black and white gingham dress: 13 different ways. Now I see you in this cuty. If I can lay my hands on such a dress I will buy it. Although I should get more outfit combinations out of the black and white gingham top I have.
Sorry I have missed a few posts of you. Time… it flies.
Yes I always enjoy reading Suzanne‘s posts. This dress is available and I think you could find it, but I think you might be too busty for it, if I may say so. I completely understand how busy you are. Thank you for checking in and leaving a lovely comment.
I laughed with you on that last photo, Elle!! Such a warm goodbye and who wouldn’t love those sunglasses???
The gingham is such a fabulous print—I’ve been coveting some shoes, but I don’t really need them!!
Yes I am also seeing gingham checked shoes that I would like. But so far I have resisted as well.
Thanks so much. Hope you are enjoying the weekend!
You are SO pretty in Gingham dress, Elle! Love your hair as well. Perfect picnic look and that place is beautiful.
Have a great week!
Much love, Len
Thanks beautiful friend
This look is lovely on you, Elle. The shoes are so pretty, the dress with the bow, the fabulous tropical print bag.
I do not have any gingham, which surprises me! I’ve had a few pieces in the past, but it hasn’t really rung my bell. Maybe I wasn’t pattern-mixing enough? I should give it another shot! Thanks for the inspiration.
Your mum would be proud of you!
Sheila, I am surprised, too. I think you might need a gingham bustier, come to think of it , we all do!
I still have to buy a gingham dress, but cant find the perfect one! This one is!
My money is on you Nancy!
Great gingham dress for a beautiful outfit!
Many thanks, always love to see your avatar !
One of my favorite patterns I have in top and wedges. You look fabulous with it on.
Yes, I can see you wearing these !
Oh what fun sunglasses in the last pic!
I think black and white will always be a classic, and this gingham print is perfect for warmer weather! 🙂 I think the floral bag is so fun with it too and you’re right, it matches so nicely with the flowers! lovely when coincidences like that happen 🙂
Hope you are having a lovely week so far 🙂 We have got some autumn weather here at last so I’m excited I’ve gotten to layer up a little!

Yes it is nice when the background furnished the perfect accent for an outfit. I am so glad you are enjoying some autumn weather. Happy weekend!
Very pretty. I envy your hourglass figure and overall femininity. When I get reincarnated, I want to be you. 🙂

Thank you so much for leaving a comment on my blog! I love your classic black and white gingham dress and how fabulous are those shoes? Love the addition of the fun glasses, I think I need a pair like that 😉 xxx
Thanks Ann, I could not resist the fun sunglasses! Happy weekend .
Elle, I see your mother taught you helpful and very good things! You are even an elegant lady when sitting! Love your look of today including the bag you got as gift. And your shoes caught immediately my attention. I love gingham in general and wear it with nearly everything (okay except leo pattern I have to admit). Enjoy the rest of this week!
xx from Bavaria/Germany, Rena
Thanks so much Rena!
I do love all of your gingham checked outfits! Thank you for your kind words and for mentioning my late mother.
That gingham dress is just so gorgeous! Love the hat too, such a great detail in the outfit. Happy Wednesday baby! Xx
Thanks, it is so comfortable and wearable! Happy Wednesday back love !
You look amazing. I love gingham, but I have only one dress.
One is all you need !
Looking simply gorgeous in this gingham shirt dress Elle dear. I would’ve styled it the same way too. Love it!
Thanks Missy May!
Yes I do believe you would style it the same, and I take that as a lovely compliment.
Love this gingham dress! So lovely!
Thanks so much Jessica!,
You look so effortlessly elegant, Elle! The gingham print is one of my favourite and I have a summer gingham skirt which I love. Everything perfectly matches in your outfit and sit like a lady which means extra elegance!!
Thanks for your nice comment on my blog. Something is wrong with it and I am unable to reply…sorry!
Thanks so much Dan,
I was a bit worried about you I will admit.
I hate having blog issues, been having connectivity issues is general..
no worries about replying, just glad to see you in cyberspace!
Loving your style! You are so chic. Would you like to follow for follow on Bloglovin? 🙂
Oh how I do love gingham, Elle! It makes me wax nostalgic for a more innocent time. You look lovely in this outfit and I am sure your mother would be so proud! I, of course, love the twist of fun with the final sunglasses! And I must admit that I am a wee bit jealous of your rooftop deck! So beautiful. All of this!
I agree that there is something nostalgic about gingham checks. I did have to wear those funny sunglasses. I do feel lucky to have access to the roof deck. Please understand it is not mine, I just share this lovely space with my neighbors as it is part of our co-op. A nice perk though… now if I could have an enormous walk in closet I would be one happy girl! Strike that, still happy…
love the dress! so feminine and chic. i’m loving gingham print right now. and the sunglasses are so cute!
I am too, it is good to see a classic come back in style.
Those sunnies are just too darling, like you, sweet friend! I love this dress and have been looking at some with the gathered knot waist as I think they are flattering! Beautiful , springtime look and I love the pink and green bag! So fun!
Thanks sweet friend, I know you will find a dress with a knot waist and look amazing!
Firstly I love your chic sunglasses they’re absolutely gorgeous! Really love your pretty gingham outfit it suits you so nicely, I don’t have too much gingham in my wardrobe and your post has inspired me to re-introduce gingham into my Summer looks.
So glad you are inspired! Don’t blame me for budget woes tho, lol, have a great day !
I’m always afraid to style gingham because I feel as though you can easily get stuck in a style rut but I love how you threw in a pop of color with the bag and kept the shoes to a minimal. The hat adds a touch of sophistication. I love!
I am are you will style gingham like a pro!
