A taffy pink skirt in tulle for a 60 Year-old fashionista? YES, let me tell you why.
Ok, first I will ask, why not? Pink is for everyone; every gender and any age. Taffy pink is especially sweet. A taffy pink skirt must be styled with a bit of an edge, though, unless one is 6 years old, and not 60!
Below, in my taffy pink skirt!
Embellished, but distressed cowboy boots add a tough vibe to this delicate tulle number. As well, the black Hermes bag ( gulp, GIFT!! ) is a super casual addition . A plain fisherman knit sweater, a perennial favorite of mine is a classic and neutral vibe. The buttoned adorned cap is just fun. Voilà, my taffy pink skirt is suddenly not so saccharine sweet.
What is taffy pink? Let me direct you to the color chart.
I have no earthly idea if this particular shade of pink is trending or not, nor do I give a whiff. Purchased at LVIS, it is brand new by ASOS and it cost me but a song. My sweater is an eBay find, and is by Ralph Lauren in the softest merino wool. Who doesn’t love a broken in Frye western boot? Loving these embellished ones bought on eBay !
Sitting on the sidewalk steps I am amusing myself as I watch passersby. I am swishing my full tulle skirt and moving my feet to see if the studs will catch the light . I barely contain a silly laugh in this shot, so it is naturally my favorite in this small selection.
Look closer at the skirt and boot combo. Not an obvious style choice, right? Yet, it is quintessentially me.
Now I depart from this outfit and show you a stunning cake in these same pink and cream colors. With an upcoming wedding for my son and fiancé , I have festive cakes on my mind. Behold, as this is taffy pink sweet!
Another great piece in taffy pink tulle is this frothy dress from a small boutique! Elegant date night anyone? How about a waltz on the veranda?
Who else is feeling pink and swoony? Perhaps it is the marathon length of violently rainy days,, but I am craving the colors of blossoms, and ripe fruit; sunsets in lavender ribbons, tossed with peach and festooned in the night’s sky.
So that is a mid week for you in mid-August. Tell me how you are? Is this dull weather spurring you to reach for saturated color and happy prints?
Let me know. You know how!

I think the best thing ever is the entire idea of dichotomy in this post, Elle!! In fact, it reminds me a little of my Instagram post last month with a pink dress and cowboy boots. I was going to link it here, but I didn’t want to overstep….

I love uber-feminine pieces with badass items! This is a great look, Elle, and it makes me want to break out my own tulle skirt and cowboy boots (too hot right now, though!). I have always liked the contrast of tough and sweet, and this outfit goes to 11, enhanced by this gorgeous shade of pink. Mwah!
I am totally into pink this season! And I can t wait to wear my pink skirt in fall with boots! Great look as always! And what an amazing boots!
We’ve had nothing but sunshine and heat here for weeks. I think a bit of rain would be welcome.
That cake is amazing!
I think my favourite part of this outfit is the hat. So fun!

Indeed, the question is: why not? Why should pink be considered only for little girls or Barbie dolls? I absolutely love the way you styled this tulle skirt with those edgy boots and cap. And that photo of you sitting on the sidewalk step really made me giggle, as I was imagining the faces of those passers-by when they spotted you! xxx
I love thta you are showing such a playful style here, it doesn’t need to be trending or not. The pink skirt looks great and I like how you’ve styled it with the embellished hat and interesting book combo. FASHION TALES

A fantastic combination which I would wear in a heartbeat. Can I have the skirt in grey? I have red cowboy boots by Sendra. Although not at all distressed. Hmm. Still..

Dear Elle, pink is always a good choice, not matter what season, not matter what age. You look marvellous as always and I adore your original styling of this sweet pink skirt. Love, Lieske
I have always loved pink, that’s why it wasn’t so hard to immediately admire your outfit. The skirt is so free and comfortable, love it.

Many thanks for the colourchart, Elle! I was woondering what shade was taffy pink!!
I thought it was fuscia, but thanks to your chart now I know it is different!
I like how you styled the ( beautiful ) skirt. Those cowboy boots go perfectlly with it!
I have a fuscia pink skirt. I will post it before summer ends…
Me Me! I have been feeling like wearing pink as of late! ill have to style an outfit soon. I love this skirt on you and the fun, edgier vibe with the grey Frye boots, bag and cap make this look so fun! The outfit is fabulous and I love the toughness /girliness of it. I had a pair of Frye boots that did stand the test of time and would love another.
Happy Sunday, hope you are well.

I absolutely LOVE the way you’ve styled the skirt with the cowboy boots! I have a similar pair that I purchased about 10 years ago,yet only wore a handful of times. I can’t convince myself of a reason to get rid of them; you’re inspiring me to style it in a similar way. Plus, cowboy boots are trending atm, which is pretty cool! I also love that dress you’ve shared, too, so pretty! Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you’re having a great start to your week so far!

Oh, you couldn’t have styled this skirt any better, or at least it hits all my particular taste points. Feminine with hard with sparkle and raw. Adore it. And adore the photos of you biting back a laugh and trying to catch the sparkle. You could be 12! Which is a good thing in my books. What a fun post. Taffy pink is a pink I don’t hear mentioned much, but it’s a lovely solid colour. Would I wear it? In a heartbeat. Gorgeous.
Thanks MEL, , my guru fashionista!
Yes, I was having a bit of fun in this shoot… I am glad that came through!

Elle, this skirt in taffy pink is marvelous, but the vintage Frye boots have me completely swooning! A magical combination, indeed, at any age! And that Hermes bag! Oh my word, it is perfection! So, so great. Thank you for directing me to this outfit combination as I now have some wonderful ideas for my new (not vintage) Durango cowgirl boots. But now I do want to search for a pair of vintage Frye boots for myself!
