Late summer style tips are necessary to share !
With September feeling more like Mid-July, we fashionistas have to rethink what we think of as transitional outfits. Below I am wearing a full-on summer outfit, with a cardigan wrapped around my neck for the chill of the Ocean breezes. Layering is key!
A more seasonally appropriate look would be a print that is NOT tropical , and warmer in color. Use accessories to lend an autumnal feel. A chocolate-brown grommet belt is a good choice, and booties would work well too.
An added layer like my cardigan above, in black or mustard would also be nice. Perhaps a graphic printed scarf in your favorite fall colors.
The Hampton’s style code is a bit different, since it is a resort community. Summer style here is more forgiving; wear white as long as you want to!
Fashion week is coming up and if I am well enough to attend, I will wear neutrals or deeper colored dresses in light cotton or eyelet. My beige Valentino dress, below, may be once choice with new booties from Dries Van Noten. You will see these boots soon, I just bought them from consignment. I will bring a layer too, in case the shows are overly air conditioned!
This older outfit may be my blueprint for late summer style inspiration.
But back to this post. All smiles below as I visit with my sister’s dog! I miss my Lucy so much .
My wonderful daughter graciously took these shots. She is good at everything she does! It helps that my sister’s back yard is paradise!
Pockets in a dress win me over! This one, by Crewcuts is very comfortable. Yes, this is a dress made for a young girl, but the belt adds a sophisticated touch and it feels age appropriate. Super fast dressing is mandatory for summer.
One slip of a dress over my head, a quick belt add-on and I am ready. Ponytails are east to wear also , and fast to create . A braided headband imparts a more polished look. Dressed in a flash, I am ready to enjoy the outdoors that we have all be patiently awaiting.
Of course my belt is second-hand. It is from the retreat boutique in Bridgehampton, NY. Proceeds from this shop go to support shelters and support for battered women. Indeed a great cause, and a fabulously fun place to shop. Win-win, Yes?
So this post is a combination #wiw for a Hampton’s labor party and part late summer style tips, with the above dress being an example of what NOT to wear!
My most recent post is a good example of a transitional outfit that still feels cool. In case you missed it , this outfit is below.
As always, the details matter ! Worn with white mules and a wicker bag, the above dress would be a good summer outfit. Here, however, it is a good transitional outfit with a nod or two to fall.
BUT WILL FALL EVER COME? The real feel here today was 103!
How are you faring, dear readers?
