Lady Liberty is a symbol of freedoms to millions around the world. Minding my own business and getting some outdoor exercise, I came across a neon green interpretation of this monumental statue. Lovely strangers took a shot of me next to this replica. I posted it to Instagram. Almost everyone commented on the camo joggers that I was wearing and NOT the the hashtags , #letsallbefriends or #inclusive is #beautiful.
I rarely post anything with political overtones, but I was hoping that this shot of Lady Liberty, or her neon facsimile, would have gotten some attention given recent headline news. Often I reflect on such matters.
I am not going to dive into political commentary, but I will say that this is a time where everyone should be reaching out to find common ground. Please!
This is NOT the time to add fire to the ire ( sorry, I had to put that in) that is stoked by so many media outlets.
Reach out and look inward. We have much more in common than we we think.
Learn from Lady Liberty!
Back to the mundane and fashionable. Not that I am dressed in a remotely inspirational way. I chose my clothes purely for comfort. What will be light weight and warm; which bag is light ? Practical choices, all.
My camo joggers were bought locally and from a mom and pop shop. NO links to share, as I have the utmost of faith that you, my dear readers, can find something similar. Okay, I will post ONE, these are from Bloomingdale’s are very similar.. I will say that my shirt, also bought in my neighborhood from another mom and pop store, is a whisper light woven blend of cashmere and cotton! Quality that will last!
This happened to be a perfect day in terms of temperature. After months of excessive heat and rain, a cool day with the optimal amount of cloud cover was so appreciated!
As I ambled home, I snapped some quick photos of colorful foliage and gems in bloom.
Diversity in nature is divine.
I ended this lovely afternoon on my rooftop, where I took some time to be still. Gratitude, pure gratitude, is what I experienced there on my perch. Wishing to share this, I add this post to my roster.
OH, THE LONG AND DRAMATIC SHADOWS OF THE DAY’S END.
What does Lady Liberty mean to you? How are you coping with this changing world?
—— XOXO, Elle ——
It’s a lovely casual outfit, and a great reason behind stopping for a pic! We have so many similarities when we sit down and thing about them, and it’s good to focus on that rather than our differences! 🙂
Hope you have been having a lovely weekend 🙂

You speak volumes Elle!! We all live in this country and should work together to make it fabulous. Of course we can’t agree with everyone all the time, but that’s how life is. But kindness rules no matter if you agree or disagree!!

I often feel some despair about the state of the world, to be honest. It’s so depressing and horrible in many ways, but then I also see that the next generation is – possibly?? – growing up more tolerant. And then I have hope again. *sigh*
I’m wearing camo pants as I sit here and type this reply, Elle. You’ve hit the zeitgeist! Hoping you are feeling more optimistic soon, and sending good vibes to you on this fine Sunday.
Lovely pictures. The Statue of Liberty welcomes immigrants, something we used to do without controversy.
Thoughtful and thought provoking. Beautiful post. Thanks, Elle!
I have to agree with you thoughts. People are more interested in camo pants than a symbol of welcoming inclusiveness . I do hope this younger generation is more tolerant.. thoughtful post and I do have to say the camo Pants look great on you especially next to lady liberty .
Better days ahead I hope . ))
I just got back from the UK and a lot of English people that we talked to, asked very carefully how we feel about Brexit. It s a subject that people want to talk about, but also a bit afraid to talk about. Perhaps that is in the US too with Trump and all.
Dear Elle. How good of you to put some extra thought in your blogpost, since many had overseen your message on Insta. I think you are someone who is genuinely kind and supportive in your messages and thus someone who “walks her talk”. I like that a lot in people and am very happy to be in regular contact with you. I don’t think we can all be friends, but I think we can certainly all be friendly. Love, Lieske
I try not to think too much about the deteriorating state of the globe. If I think about it too much I won’t leave my bed.

Morning Elle,
It does say something about people and IG if people aren’t reading the commentary. Sometimes I think people are just too visual and that is why IG is the way it is. Anyhow, I agree! I think we need kindness and to find common ground to work together, people need to think of others! I don’t watch all of the news, but keep abreast as what is going on, i just can’t take all f the negativity. You do look lovely in your camo joggers and I hope you enjoyed your walk!

so true Jess!
It more important that ever to stay in tune, as hard as it is!

It certainly is thought provoking that most people immediately zoom in to the outfit, without giving a second thought to the message you were trying to convey! I wonder what Lady Liberty would think? Whatever happened to the universal freedom she stands for? Love that photo of you standing side by side with her neon green counterpart, though, and your colourful foliage and blooms brightened up my day! Your roof top terrace looks so inviting, too! xxx
Precisely, I think that is why she is bile green in this facsimile !
Flower and nature is beautiful indeed !

I agree with you, dear Elle! Love, peace and freedom!
You look absolutely divine!
Yes to all of these important things!

Elle, no wonder most of the people commented on the camou pants and not on the neon green lady liberty 🙂 I love your camou pants, too, and even better you purchased them local as far as your beautiful shirt! I would copy your cool look on the spot! Happy weekend!
