Star power, when you think of it, conjures images of unapproachable detachment, yes? A personality that is larger than life, and therefore, somewhat above it all in terms of temperament ? Not so with Mandy Moore! At DuJour’s cover party I delighted in meeting Mandy Moore at TAO Downtown. It is no wonder she plays a featured role in a hit television series.
It is a hip downtown location , with dazzling lights and perfect ambiance. Mandy wore a fabulous ruffled shift dress and a effervescent sincere smile. She was warm. She was gracious. She was radiant.
(I was able to use my flash here!)
As a star from the hit show This is Us, NBC’s Emmy Award-nominated television show, she has reason indeed to be a bit high and mighty. But she is down to earth and truly charming.
The fall cover party from DuJour Magazine has a byline that reads:
“This Is Us actress Mandy Moore on her rise from pop star darling to Hollywood’s it-girl”
This multi-faceted actress has worked hard to get to where she is. She is grateful and level headed as she considers her success. At a high point in her career she has this to say:
“I feel like this fully-realized version of myself, like this is what I’m meant to do, and fate and circumstance just happened to place me in the right place at the right time to be a part of this. So that’s never lost on me. I’m very grateful.”
She is such a natural for the role she plays on This is Us. This show, as you know, pivots back and forth in time, as good sagas often do. It is a tear jerker! Even Mandy gets teary eyed when she watches replays of episodes.
–When she spoke she discussed being kind in a divided world, and how that is important to her!–
YOU who know me, know well that is also a priority for me.
Below a shot of the magazine cover on display from the party.
The photos I took came out pretty well despite the crowds and low light. But my best capture of her is grainy.
I had the flash off so I could be considerate to the professional photographers. I was using, as I always do, my Samsung Galaxy Note. I know you professional photogs out there are shuddering. But low light happens and the above shots are pretty good if I do say so myself!
This snap captures, amidst the grain, Mandy’s radiance and sincere smile. Charismatic star power comes naturally to her!

Yes, I am standing happily at the party before the festivities begin.
Characteristically I am wearing a mash-up of Prada, two belts, patent leather boots, and vintage Ralph Lauren . You saw this skirt here last.
Quick fashion tip: Two belts combined gives good definition to a small waist, and can be used in place of a corset belt!
It is fun to see how star power brings a mere mortal into focus.
Some people just have it, and Mandy Moore certainly in one of them!
Do you watch This is Us?
It is certainly a favorite in my household and circle of friends!
Happy New Month dear readers!
