Thank you to recent commenters and friends who helped me feel more uplifted as of late. Today I feature an eclectic OOTD with a swishy tulle skirt and a colorful zig zag sweater. A velvet scarf by Pucci, adds texture and a dash of neon.
Sad as I am about recent events, made even more powerful by living in the nexus of trouble, I am feeling bolder in these uplifting rainbow of colors.
My back has been hurting. I ruptured a disk and have been under the radar for a while. I have been less active on social media and on your blogs because it hurts to sit. Ouch ! I am recovering slowly, but surely. You can see above the sneakers that I wear. They are not at all fashionable, but they are good for walking inside and out. These Nikes are my necessary shoe choice.
Thankfully, I made it through a day of pipe bombs and unrest. As I transversed the city to see two doctors, I spoke to two individuals who had to leave their places ( one a college, one an apartment building ) because of evacuation orders. It was certainly a bewildering zig zag sort of day.
I did find myself across from Lord and Taylor, as I visited my orthopedic doctor. I was so sad to see this store closing, such an institution. Nonetheless I did wander in and the sales are remarkable. Believe it or not, I did not buy any clothes! ( Or shoes, or coats !!! ) This trend of store closings is not new but it seems to be accelerating. This trend does not bode well.
Passing a pretty fountain, I took in the sound and sight of it. It was calming and lovely to see. Below I share this photo.
Two closer shots of this outfit follow. I am carrying my treasured Grace bag by Mark Cross seen here and here .
So many people comment on my braided hairstyle. When I show them it is just a headband they are quite surprised ! I adore this headband because it adds a bit of polish and takes a mere second to add.
Such a charming restaurant awaited me after a long day of doctor appointments.
A bathroom sign brought a chuckle, so I share it here as well.
Here- a snap from ShopStyle to shop the colorful zig zag sweater.
As a new week comes into focus, I hope for a better course of events.
I hope. I wish. I close my eyes and try to imagine life on a better path with a healthier momentum, and a more optimistic trajectory.
Please hope with me.

I adore that lovely tulle skirt – I must wear mine again soon! I’m glad the colour is able to lift your spirits, even if only just a little. I thought that was your hair! Hmm, I wonder if they make those in lavender??
Have a good week, Elle – thank you for the beautiful, structured fountain.
I’ve been admiring that clever braid headband for a while. I looked at them online but am not convinced their red would match the colour of my hair as well as the blond does yours.
It is so difficult to remain upbeat, and worse when you aren’t feeling well. Kudos for still creating such a wonderful outfit when your spirits weren’t feeling the same. Feel better soon!

What a fun and colourful outfit! I love the zig zags and your scarf is a cute way to add a little extra colour. That’s so clever that the braid is actually a headband – maybe I need something like that! 🙂
Hope that you had a lovely weekend despite all of the craziness around 🙂 Saturday was a little busy for me but Sunday was much more relaxing 🙂

Sorry to hear about your back problems, Elle. I’ve had my fair share of those, so I’m feeling your pain. Ouch indeed! But it’s good to see you wearing uplifting colours again in spite of these troubled times. I’d already admired your fabulous zig-zag sweater in a previous post, but it’s nice to see it again, as it’s such a happy piece! The scarf is pretty fabulous too, lovely to see a close-up of those amazing fringes. Oh, and that bathroom sign did make me chuckle too! Take good care of yourself, my friend! xxx
You got me – I thought your hairband was your hair. What a lovely accessory! And the runners do not look pedestrian at all when you style them in your unique way, Elle, with that fabulous scarf, the boxy bag, the nubbly sweater and the tulle. I’m sorry about the reason you have to wear them, but rest assured, they will be regarded as “it” shoes. I hope your back issue resolves soon. I am hoping, hoping with all my heart! Really hoping. Things don’t have to be ugly in spirit for the world to function better. Quite the opposite.… Read more »

So sorry that you had ruptured a disk – I can imagine it is very hurtful. My best wishes for your recovery, dear Elle!
Thanks a lot that you nevertheless took these amazing outfit photos. The zig zag sweater is really amazing and I never had thought that your braid is just a hairband.

That headband is so funny. And clever. Who would have thought. I hope that your back is better by now. Seeing you in these sneakers surprised me. But you are lucky, it is the trend.
