Holiday style recap : I am feeling grateful and wearing warm Thanksgiving colors: paprika, notes of espresso and pumpkin spice. My outfit is all #shopyourcloset and nothing new. I am happy that I did not need a new outfit, that old pieces served me well. Most importantly I am so grateful for the love of friends and family.
TODAY IS A DAY OF MIXED BLESSINGS. I LOST A DEAR FRIEND TODAY AND AM PROFOUNDLY SAD. I FOCUS ON THIS RECENT HOLIDAY AND TRY TO MAINTAIN MY SENSE OF GRATITUDE, EVEN AS THE GRIEF TUGS AND SNAGS THE FABRIC OF MY HAPPINESS. SHARING BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS IS GOOD THERAPY.
PICTURE HAPPINESS, DWARF THE GRIEF. ITS A PROCESS.
I enjoyed a feast at my sister’s house. My adult children were there, my adult nieces and nephews too, as well as my twin and baby sister ( who is 59!) My brother-in-law was the host and happens to be a great cook! Baby sis and her daughter are at ease below.
It was a sunny day and the view was spectacular. So pleased to be out of the city and to see the natural beauty of sun, sky and fields.
Six burners going, as cooking for 12 commences.
The kitchen is incredibly well stocked. I brought 2 pies and 3 cakes!
TWO TABLES WERE SET. I share photos below and some shots of my sister’s house, which is both beautiful and comfortable.
I knew my friend was gravely Ill at this holiday. I focused on the beauty before me, and I coped. My sisters and family are wonderful company!
I did change into track pants for the meal, and I share this shot as I pose with my twin. Intense sunshine obscures the resolution, but it is fun that we wore the same colors in reverse.
This holiday style recap is full of light, mixed in with warm tones and similar to a look that I posted here.
My sweater is new, replacing one that is very old and finally had to be converted to a cleaning cloth. It is Brooks Brothers and is from the boy’s department via Bloomingdales. Bloomies is just 2 short blocks away, and merino wool lasts a very long time. The brown skirt that you saw in the opening shot is now vintage Missoni, and the shoes are Dolce & Gabbana, in a fun combo of denim and cognac. They are about 5 years old and are classic. I bought them slightly worn as a sample at STA, which is no longer around. The slub knit cardi is Elie Tahari and was bought at consignment in Sag Harbor.
There are no food photos in this post, as that would have distracted from family time. Below, you see the empty table looking crisp and elegant , but forlorn. Or maybe I am projecting?
All in, my holiday style recap is quite inexpensive , but very high quality !
This adorable pup awaited us as we got back to our house. My daughter is dog sitting and it has been a while since I have spent time with a cute dog. Yes, this post ends on a happy note!
What is your holiday style recap? Are you getting into a festive holiday mood!
I am, and I wish you holiday cheer!

What a beautiful setting for thanksgiving! I liked you outfit too and it sounds like a nice time with family. I am sorry about your loss though, the holidays are such a hard time when you have lost someone.
On a brighter note, I hope that you have had a wonderful weekend! We went on our annual girls pre-Christmas shopping trip yesterday, finished buying all our Christmas gifts and had some fun together 🙂

I asked my partner how old hh thought you and your twin would be. From the IG photo. He said, because you ask it, I think they are older then I think, so I guess 50! Your hole family has incredible good genes!
That is kind. Good skin is something we inherited !Happy holidays !

Great genes in your family – everyone is so beautiful! I’m so sorry to hear of your loss – there is no real happiness without the counterpart of sadness. I hope you could balm your soul with your family and loved ones, in this lovely house. Take care of yourself, and wishing you much “pet therapy.” Hugs to you, my dear.
Always so in tune, thank you for your sensitivity !
Yes, good genes because my family is so kind and friendly! I wish I still had my dog, but this brief pet therapy session was wonderful!

Dear Elle. Sharing time with loved ones to celebrate is always a good idea. I love the idea of “Thanksgiving” and have recently read that people that focus on being thankful by expressing their thanks feel that they have more to be thankful of than those who don’t say it but just think it, let alone those who do not give it any thoughts. So, let’s keep the Thanksgiving spirit alive. You kicked of quite nicely by posting these photos and sharing your story. Love, Lieske
Thanks so much Lieske!
Yes to holiday spirit and perspective! I am truly grateful, even with this loss.
