Classic camel coats are warm and cozy. Further, the look is always on point and can last for decades or more. Updating a came coat is fun as well.
Change up the look with a bold scarf or furry accessories. In this photo, clearly I did the later.
SWISH- the wind danced!
Happily, I met a friend for lunch at The Four Seasons near me. It is luxurious but not as expensive if you sit at the bar. The bar is elegant and comfortable with a gorgeous fireplace. If you go mid-day it is quiet! My friend and I got a chance to catch up and then we did some shopping for a Mother of the Bride dress!
Classic camel coats elevate any outfit.
Mine is 3/4 sleeve which is great for cozy layering. Cashmere, or a wool and cashmere blend, is the softest and most durable.
I know the teddy bear coat is trending, but so many of them are made with synthetics. Alas, due to this, they will not last as long, and when they are tossed they will pollute the landfill.
However, if you are lucky enough to find one made of natural fibers you can consider that a classic!
It is fair to conclude, therefore, that classic camel coats or good wool coats in menswear are good investments that will be kinder to the planet.
As well, my scarf is velvet and made of recycled fur from a local artisan. Unfortunately, the store that sold it is long gone. Would be you believe it is 9 years old? And the hat which is real fur, was made from a great aunt’s coat. Sentimental value and warmth make this precious to me.
Bundled up in beige cashmere , I am happy despite the cold weather and wind. Off I go to explode the wonder that is Madison Avenue.
Laliqué was on my path to the hotel . Master glassmaking is a fine craft and the excellent work of this house is indeed precious. I do not own any pieces from this glorious store, but what fun it is to look!
Finally the wind died down so I asked a stranger to take this shot.
Mirrored yellow diamonds did a lot to enhance this neutral outfit and grey skied day.
We spent some time at Miu Miu, and as a good fashionista I did take three fun photos to share.
Inspiration indeed!
CHIC STAIRS ASCEND!
Too bad they do not sell this mirrored case! The perfumes are beautiful objects and are arranged artfully.
Luxury abounds on Madison Avenue, but it is free to look! Exquisite inspiration is always presented there. How I appreciate that. I am happy to own a piece of two of Miu Miu designs, but they are second-hand and gently priced!
After a long search I found a coat that is retail, but beautiful and the store is family owned. I will share this with you. This is not sponsored. ( You can also shop second-hand for one, as well! )
Swoon- worthy and reasonably priced, this is a coat to treasure. It is on sale for $224.10 and it is 100% wool.
So dear readers, are you a fan of classic camel coats?
Or do Menswear coats call your name? Or perhaps you a puffer coat gal?
Alas, I am all three!
With a penchant for the former, as you can see here with this very same coat,
and here, where I shared this from 2016.
More camel ? Voilà, the same coat and another classic camel number.
Coat preferences? Let me know, you know how!
Have a great week ahead.
May it be peaceful and happy.

Beautiful coat! I have a very similar one in black wool from New York & Co. that I’ve had for almost 20 years now, and it is still in perfect condition. All I do is have it dry cleaned twice a year. It was so worth every single penny all those years ago, because I still wear it to this day!
Oh I can imagine how beautiful your camel coat is. I’m glad that you continue to wear it and enjoy. Thank you for commenting.

I am not a camel gal – it is just not a good colour on me. However! I do appreciate a beautiful, locally-curated, natural fibre coat as much as the next person – and this is a BEAUTY, Elle. I’d buy it in red in a heartbeat! I am amassing a collection of coats, as I so love matching my outerwear to the layers below. You look lovely in all those environments, especially the yellow diamonds – yellow, for hope.
I loooove a classic camel coat! And I love the sleeves of yours. I don t like long sleeves, also not on sweaters of dresses or whatever. Window shopping is great for inspiration isn t it.
I agree a classic camel coat like this will be worn year after year! I have a camel trench I picked up off season on super sale (under $50 when it retailed for over $200 and every winter I love pulling it out again! 🙂
Hope you had a lovely weekend! It was a bit stormy here, but we had fun anyway! I just posted my weekday wear linkup, I’d love you to join! 🙂
Away From The Blue
Pretty items. And nice post.
I don’t think to buy a camel coat because I always like the statement coats better. Yet adding this scarf gives so much personality to the overall look. I need to concentrate more on basics I think!!

I used to own a wool camel coat, but I donated it to charity as I wasn’t wearing it. I’ve got many other natural fibre coats, though, and all of them are vintage or at least new-to-me, which makes them even more environmentally friendly. You do look very elegant wearing yours, especially with the addition of the furry scarf and hat. What a brilliant idea to have a hat made from your aunt’s coat! xxx
I think a wool or cashmere camel coat is such a timeless luxury item. I have sold a few. I haven’t kept any as the colour isn’t good on me. Yours looks wonderful and changes completely with your choice of scarf.
I do wish winter would move on! We had a bit of spring and are now back into the cold.
Isn’t that Miu Miu dress gorgeous?

Oh I so want a camel wool coat. I have not found one I like yet. I bought one a few years ago but did not like the way it looked on my and gave it away. I need to be more discerning next time. You look great in this one and love with the scarf. Oooo the Four Seasons nice! And shopping at Miu Miu that sounds like a lovely afternoon!

Elle, you know to wear such a classic camel coat in perfection! And for sure I’m a fan of such coats. I even own one but have to admit I do this rarely. Therefore, thanks a lot for your wonderful inspiration! Now I’m motivated to wear my camel coat more often.

what a lovely camel coat. I do agree. Camel coats are such a classic. Investing into classics is a great way to cut down on fast fashion. You look stunning!
I have admired camel coats all my life, but amazingly, have never owned one! When it comes to actual shopping, I have never found Just The Right One. But I look every year and maybe someday.
All the sights on Madison Ave are lovely, so glad you’ve shared!

Thanks ! I agree and am glad you do!

You make the coat look beautiful and luxurieus. But you wouldn’t see me dead in it. Or rather, if I did wear one, I would look very ill. it is a colour which is wrong for me. The two scarves you showed with the coat would make it better for me to wear though. I especially love the first, furry one.
Greetje
Yes, you are a woman who looks best in color! Maybe a rich tobacco color, with a bright scarf!
