The Wool Camel Coat / Accessorize With Color

Wearing a wool camel coat and not fading into the landscape requires some good accessories. As the flurries fell, I stayed warm with cozy and colorful accesories.  Heavily layered, I welcomed the chill and the first snowflakes of the season.

Good accessories I have! My multi colored blanket scarf was just as warm as its namesake. It is a bit bulky, but perfect for seriously cold days.  Both the feel of the scarf and the colors are soft . My Russian styled hat also kept me warm. It is by Roxy and I got it last year.

I love coats and have an impressive collection. When your taste and size is consistent,  and you shop for decades, you will find a plethora of warm coats for every occasion , at home in your closet(s). I love the way a coat can dress up a pair of denim skinnies, or dress down (or change- up)  a cocktail dress.

A good wool camel coat is the very best choice for my taste and my lifestyle.

I added a snake bangle that I picked up at Broadway market , downtown near TopShop. The glint of jewels at my wrist added a nice flash, in lieu of abundant sunlight.

My bag was from my sister’s closet, a hand me down, as it were. Yay! I do not know the brand, it only has an initial and an image of a map, but I love it, it is light and large enough to carry a laptop, which I did that day.

The city is dressed up for the holidays. I do not have many photos , but more will be forthcoming. However, I love this photo, it is a ceiling from a diner downtown! Bet you would not have guessed that!

Indoors my outfit looks different, the hues a shade warmer. I love standing next to a vase of 36 inch roses in perfect crimson red! My wool camel coat looks like a plain canvas for all of the color around me!

This is an easy post to shop, and chances are you own most or all of it. A good wool camel coat is an essential. It is always tasteful. The blanket scarf is ubiquitous and on most Christmas wish lists, too.  But here is a quick little shopping gallery.

Below, bracelet , blue shaker sweater ,  wool camel coat , plaid blanket scarf , patent leather boots , faux fur hat .

Do you own a cashmere or wool camel coat? If not, is it on your wish list? Let me know what gifts you are buying for others , as well as what you are hoping to receive. Happy Holiday season. I hope this post finds you warm, safe and well !

  1. You look snuggly and warm in your lovely coat, Elle – the pops of reds and the slick black of your boots look wonderful with it. I used to own a camel coat years ago, but it’s not a good colour for me, just blends right into my skin and makes me look sallow. I prefer my grey wool/cashmere menswear coat, or one of my “unsafe” coats (Polar Bear or Ocelot). I did buy a ginormous scarf – it’s practically a blanket!

Wishing you happiness, health and a year of good times ahead with those you love, my dear. Peace on earth…we can always hope.

    1. Yes, I will continue to hope…
Grey is gorgeous! And I am intrigued with Ocelot, I just used that word… wonder what the color is, will go to goggle after this. Whatever it is, I am sure it is fabulous, as you are my sweet friend.
      Happy, merry and cheers!

  2. I really loved your outfit, dear Elle! I love a nice camel coat and the way you accessorize it is fantastic, you look fabulous! I loved your “Russian” hat, loved the boots and the bag you got from your sister! The scarf, being warm, is excellent and beautiful and I also loooved the bangle! I hope you have a very nice day and a beautiful Christmas!

  3. That’s such a beautiful classic coat! 🙂 I love your colourful blanket scarf with it too. I just bought a new scarf, even though it’s summer here, haha! You can never have too many scarves I think! 🙂

Hope you are having a great week! I’m enjoying the busy week before Christmas, after we had a relaxing weekend with some beach time on Sunday!

    1. Enjoy summer, your lovely family and some beach time! Well deserved!
So cold and windy here today, but all is well,
      Love, Elle

  4. You look very cozy bundled up.

The coat is a classic. I don’t own a cashmere coat but my husband owns several. Great for him when he lives in Hong Kong. Ha ha! NOT. Anyhow he comes home today for a visit so he’ll break open his coat closet for sure.

Wishing you and your family the very best this Holiday Season.

    1. I am glad for you, but I would steal one of his coats and have it altered…then add some fur from a vintage piece that I know that you own..somewhere !
I wish you the same – happy holidays, good health , peace and joy!

  5. My dear, I had to find your blog and add it to my reading list again – it seems it got lost somehow, I did not receive any notifications lately! It’s a good thing we are connected on IG! And thank you so much for all your wonderful comments, you are so kind!

You look incredible in everything you wear! I love how you wear the blanket scarf on top of your elegant coat, and the fur hat and your amazing boots complete this very European (to my eye) outfit! Lovely photos, and I can tell you are in a festive mood already! We just buy gifts for our daughter (she has a wish list, which is quite modest really, can you believe that she asked for a ukulele this year!), and then if we happen to find something that we like for ourselves, we get it, but there is no big shopping involved here.

    Warmest hugs, dear Elle!

    1. I ma so sorry. I switched back to WordPress, and sent out a notification , but most did not see it…my bad.. but yes, I am so happy to see you here as always. I love a thoughtful and modest holiday…the best! A ukulele! How cool!

    1. I was felling cozy and warm! Hard to accomplish sometimes in New York, in the winter!
I wish you the very same…happy holidays, peace and joy!

  7. You are so right, with some bold and fashionable accessories, you can certainly add some life to a common basic, such as wool coat, which many of us own. Especially in NYC, where there everywhere, it’s so good to add some personal touches to help add a nice pop to a winter outfit. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
