My cropped camo joggers are super comfortable and that is something I truly value. However, I like to dress them up a bit, as that is my style tendency.
Nancy, a blogger you should follow , brought this comment to my attention from Karl Lagerfeld! I wanted to quote it exactly so I found it on Goodreads.com.
“Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants.”
Therefore, these cropped camo joggers are sweatpants! Oh no! A serious fashion faux pas. However, there are extenuating circumstances, or perhaps I really have lost control !
One could argue however, that comfy sweats are necessary! Continue to read please. I think you will agree with me here.
A delicate silk blouse by Malene Birger added some lux vibes. The heart necklace, large and pearl encrusted, lent a bit of bling. Therefore, I hope I did not appear to give up!
I was literally in earnest mode.
This particular day had me inside for quite a while, and then a long walk brisk walk refreshed me as I traveled to NYU hospital. My father in law is quite ill, so I visited as often as I could.
Note: he is now in Rehab, and we are hoping for the best.
Switching out my cool platforms for walking shoes, in this case comfy boots made for children, I added a furry vest for warmth, last seen here layered up a bit more for winter.
Yes, I was glad to dress this look up a bit. Thank you to the lovely couple who shot this photo of me! Note, I wore a similar pair of camo pants here.
The soft furry vest and cropped camo joggers were light as air!
Walking to the hospital I took some photos. The sun was bright, and I was close to the East River.
While the calendar says it is Spring, the flowers are yet to bloom, and the branches stood nearly naked in the light.
You in the warmer climbs, may be comparing how the trees sway in the wind. My Manhattan visual metaphor for that would be the shot below.
Glorious flowers in Texas sent by a friend of mine. Now these blooms in their verdant hues inspire !
In contrast, our measly Manhattan blooms are just a few shrugging daffodils with a sign that reads caution.
WHAT? DON’T EAT THE FLOWERS ? LOL.
Majestic buildings do please the eye here in East Manhattan, even if we do not have spring blossoms and flowering trees!
Happily, my father in law had a lovely view of the river and a fantastic modern room with state of the art medical equipment! Excellent doctors and nurses were a blessing!
The Kimmel part of NYU bordered the children’s hospital, so I got to see this inspired sculpture whenever I visited!
While at the hospital I got to spend some quality time with my father in law, and family. I truly was glad to be wearing easy clothes so I could stand and walk easily.
When you are tending to others the last thing you need to think about is your squished toes or itchy sweater.
Another shot of this pajama comfy outfit. This OOTD will bring me no fashion accolades!
However, I did what I came to do.
I spoke with my loving FIL, and kissed his head and we spoke for a bit. I got him ice cream to eat! Chocolate ice cream is only thing he is enthusiastic about !
All was calm, and a bit sad, when he was asleep.
My necklace in pearls, you saw on Instagram recently. For contrast, the necklace sits atop a bag I thrifted from Housing Works! For for those of you who do not follow me on Instagram, below is a shot of my big heart! );
The takeaway! When you visit a loved one who is ill, bring comfort and a big heart!

Cute bag, and super camo joggers – just perfect for casual days. Please do join the #chicandstylish #linkup every Thursday. Jacqui Mummabstylish
I don’t think it’s the sweatpants per se that make it look like we’ve given up. It’s the whole look put together! For example your outfit is very stylish and gorgeous!! It’s what’s included in with the joggers that make a difference.
I’m so glad your FIL is doing better!!
XOXO

I’m so glad to hear your FIL is in rehab, Elle! Our good vibes worked! I’d take that Karl quote with a grain of salt – I do agree that we shouldn’t lounge around in sweatpants all day (unless we’re sick!) or wear them out in public (unless we are going to work out), but when you have a fun pair like this that you’ve made the effort to dress up and express yourself with, then I think you are rocking them! I like that you made that extra effort to present your best self to your FIL in the… Read more »
It’s your heart that matters! But you really dolled up the sweatpants. I love a feminine shirt in a soft fabric 🙂 . Prayers for your father in law. One thing that’s an absolute truth, people matter more than clothes. I slept on the linoleum floor next to my mother’s hospital bed. And the boyfriend that told me how “good” I looked because I was not eating during those weeks?! Was gone as soon as I recovered, because I never did recover from those words. Love is the thing worth living for; self expression is the icing on the cake… Read more »
I think you have proven Mr Lagerfeld wrong here Elle. You look good in a pair of sweatpants, dressing them up the way you did. Happy to read your FIL is recovering. It’s part of getting older (both us and our parents) and part of life. That does not mean it’s an easy part of life. Sending lots of positive vibes your way Elle! Love, Lieske
Haha, nothing good of the dead, but you proved Karl to be wrong! But you can make a plastic bag look stylish! All the best with your dear father in law Elle!
Your statement is so much better than Karls, Elle 🙂
You look amazing in sweatjogpants, very stylish woman! ❤️
A little devil in me think we should wear jogpants with chanel bags….. :))
XOXO Tina
I don’t think pants like this are giving up at all – Id on’t like that quote much, haha! I think they are so fun and look great with your ankle boots!
I am glad you are able to spend some time with your father in law while he is in hospital, it must be so hard on the family.
Away From The Blue
You manage to make even a pair of joggers look chic and elegant, Elle! Love that frilly blouse you’re wearing it with, and that magnificent heart pendant. The artwork outside the children’s ward made me smile too. And I’m so pleased to hear your FIL is getting better! xxx
And a big heart you have darling. You made these pants look darling with the boots and that to-die-for blouse.
A very well styled outfit.

Elle, you do have a big heart! Even though we have only corresponded via computer, I could tell when we first met here that you were a lady with grace and a big heart! Love the pearls, too! I hope your FIL continues to improve and so good he has the care he needs. I think I may need a pair of those camo joggers, you still make them look elegant with your style!
take care,
jess xo

Dear Elle, so sorry your father in law is ill and in hospital – it is so kind you visit him a lot and at least he as an amazing view. Hopefully he will recover soon! And I know this quote from Karl Lagerfeld and I was really thinking about it as I love to wear joggers 🙂 Maybe not in such an elegant and cool way like you but nevertheless I like them. Even today I’m wearing such pants 🙂 Have a lovely rest of the week!
