No, I not talking about the hottest new celeb or tech product. I am talking about the beautiful things you surround yourself with, and the many things that make your life more livable and comfortable. I am talking about Decor. At Kips Bay Decorator Show House, you get to see the crème de la crème and walk in and around these scrumptious rooms.
Starting outside, I am in the garden surround by lush greenery.
You will see that even my mixture of a Missoni belt-as-scarf, and colorful Ann Taylor blouse, has met its match in the verdant garden at the Kips Bay Show House.
More flowers, you say. OK! Some of the lush blooms indoors.
The bottom of my outfit has nice texture and drape, but the colors pale compared to the blooms surrounding me!
INSIDE, EACH ROOM IS AS INDIVIDUAL AS A FINGERPRINT- AND A DOPAMINE ENHANCING EYEFUL. I HOPE I GOT MY NEUROCHEMISTRY RIGHT!
LET’S START WITH THIS ARMCHAIR IN A MODIFIED ANIMAL PRINT AND ROWS OF STUDDED TEXTURE. COOL WHITE MARBLE RESTS BESIDE IT, AND GEOMETRIC DRAPERY IN COMPLEMENTARY BLUES SHADE THE BRIGHT INDOORS.
THE MOST EXQUISITE BLOSSOMS ARE ARTFULLY ARRANGED BY PROFESSIONALS.
An Art Poster on the wall has emotional and political significance .
I laughed when I saw this sign. 🙂
It was a nice change to move my lips into a smile, as my lower jaw was heavy from all of that jaw-dropping swooning.
THE REST OF THE PHOTOS ARE NOT FROM MY CAMERA. IT IS HARD TO COVER SOMETHING FOR A BLOG AND NOT NOT BE RUDE TO THE FRIENDS YOU ARE WITH. I WONDER IF YOU HAVE THAT PROBLEM TOO?
ALSO, I STILL FEEL SELF CONSCIOUS WHEN I AM SNAPPING AWAY, AS OTHERS ARE TAKING IN AN INTENSE AND COSTLY, VISUAL EXPERIENCE. THE REST OF THE PHOTOS ARE FROM THIS SITE, I DO HOPE YOU CHECK IT OUT.
Below, a cool gray and cerulean blue palette, create a simple and inviting kitchen- both cutting edge and calming with a dash of subtle drama.
This room sings to me! The playful scalloped and tromp l’oeil valance, chintz armchair, and sleek cocktail table are in perfect balance for a transitional-modern room.
I love the open floor plan of this kitchen space and the high-end finishes. How about these scrolly rams-head bar stools!
And we end at the beginning; typical Elle Diaries Style. The magnificent garden – blossoms galore, texture, and serious Zen vibes!
The Kips Bay Decorator Show House is more than just an inspiring place to visit. When you go there, a portion of the proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club. From the website, a bit on their mission statement and history, I did paraphrase a bit:
Show House History
Each year, celebrated interior designers transform a luxury Manhattan home into an elegant exhibition of fine furnishings, art and technology. This all began in 1973 when several dedicated supporters of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club launched the Kips Bay Decorator Show House to raise critical funds for much needed after school and enrichment programs for New York City children. Over the course of four decades, this project has grown into a must-see event. The Show House receives as many of 15,000 guests annually and has raised over $21,000,000 for the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club.
