METALLIC SNEAKERS LEND AN URBAN EDGE TO TODAY’S FEATURED OUTFIT, WHICH IS OTHERWISE LADYLIKE, BUT RELAXED. ON THE CITY STEPS ACROSS THE STREET, I NOTE THE BUZZING ENERGY AND CHILL IN THE AIR. STILL! SIGH…
The look today is my signature eclectic, save for the metallic sneakers in shimmery pewter.
Feeling pensive and a bit preoccupied, I am nonetheless relaxed enough to enjoy the outdoors. My floral skirt is a scuba like material, perfect for easy wear and a fun mix with the embroidered sweater. There is a welcomed wedge in my metallic sneakers and I love the boost from this subtle detail. My back also feels better when I wear a heel, but not too high. A striped cotton cardi is nestled at my waist, ready to be slipped on when the wind blows next.

These green floral sunglasses are such fun to wear. Seen here, and worn often, you probably recognize them well by now. They are playful and a bit dramatic, and SOMETHING HAS TO BE GREEN! These photos were taken 10 days ago and the only flowers you will see are the ones on my skirt and sweater! I do feel like this is the 88th day of January and not Mid April ! Who is with me here?
Taken with my new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 this camera delivers depth of field, if the shot is taken from a certain distance. Below a closer look of the top half of my ensemble. Nifty camera option, no? This feature is called Live focus, and I love it!
In front of a colorful backdrop is another shot, sans pewter metallic sneakers.
Honestly , I am not a big fan of the sneaker trend, but these metallic sneakers feel a bit dressed up, They are also embellished with tiny silver crystals, and they feel a bit more glam than a running shoe. Comfort? YES, they are SO comfortable, and a zip up side means no laces to deal with. Easy on- easy off; my kind of shoes!
I do appreciate the ease of an elastic waist skirt, pull on sweater and zip up sneakers. Easy Peasy, yes Pul-leeze !
Did I mention I have been overseeing a renovation for the last 4 months? Indeed, I have, and having been buying all of the materials for that, and keeping a close eye of the project, hinge by hinge, tile by tile. Decorating is fun for me and I do hope our house comes out well. Further, I hope it is done soon as I do love to be in East Hampton when it gets sunny, and before the high season invites manic frenzy and traffic. My family always gathers here, my adult children and my son’s fiancé, sisters, nieces and nephews.
I love that skirt – I have a very similar one (just an H&M one) that is in pink with blue designs. Must wear it again soon. I’m not a fan of the sneaker trend either, but I do like some of the very shiny ones that I’ve seen. Wow, you’re doing all that work! I can’t even imagine the level of detail. Take care, Elle!
Loving your style! You are so chic. Would you like to follow for follow on Bloglovin? 🙂

I know what you mean about sneakers, but I do think the fun ones really make an outfit so modern—and they are comfy!!

I just love that skirt! I like scuba skirts and dresses a lot, no ironing involved! Fantastic Sunny s too!
Oh that’s such a beautiful skirt! I really like the design, and the metallic shoes are so fun with it. I love pairing casual shoes with dresses and skirts, it’s a great casual outfit option 🙂
Hope you are having a great week so far and your renovations continue to go well! I’m feeling a bit under the weather unfortunately, trying to rest up (as much as you can with two kids, ha!).

Elle, yes to your look of today! Personally, I’m definitely a fan of the sneakers trend – and therefore I really like your shoe choice. Love also the rest of your look – something has to be green indeed. Hopefully the flowers will come soon to NYC! And I like it you love your family that much, this speaks again in your favour. If you will show the result of your renovation this would be really great.

What a fun and pretty look. You have a way of making every look very “ladylike,” even with disparate and modern pieces.
I’d love to see pictures of your home remodel!

How fun my friend! I LOVE scuba material and this baby blue is so pretty on you! I am due for a new Spring skirt this year! the emboidery is a lovely detail and those sneakers are adorable! I am with you, I love a heel ( for me a block heel or wedge) is better for your back! Those sunnies are fabulous too! i am looking for a new pair of presciption sunnies as I am blind as a bat! My hubby has a Samsung and it takes awesome pics, love it! Have a great weekend! jess xx http://www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com… Read more »
Your skirt is so into fashion with the flowery pattern and the baby blue. Like always you know how to create an original look following the latest fashion trends. Love, Lieske
That skirt is so cool and I bet it is even better in person in the scuba material. Love the striped sweater over it. Gosh I feel like it is never going to get warm .
