A lace up sweater Is a great way to wear a long sleeve knit and still have the style read beachy and fresh. It is a simple silhouette to wear with denim or a skirt. It is even perfect with cut-off shorts. It is a trending item, but as you know, still classic. A lace up sweater never truly goes out of style.
Below a shot of a St. John sweater bought 6 years ago second-hand. Paired with denim and silver appliqués shoes from Payless, this outfit is easy peasy and playful. It is also a perfect example of high-low styling. The bag is the” Louis Vuitton Limited Edition Yayoi Kusama Canvas Neverfull”. This fresh version the LV bag is more distinctive and colorful, not as serious as a luxury item, even though it is costly. It was a second-hand purchase, and is available here at Bluefly.com, also second-hand. It is a collector’s item and has been a pretty good investment as well as a great bag to wear. I could sell it now for a bit less than I paid for it, making the cost of this bag not nearly as expensive as you would imagine.
Payless shoes, in children’s size 2 ! –, and a designer bag seems like a contradictory pair of outfit items, but I buy what I like! I try not to buy because of a label’s appeal or despite the labels’ perceived lack of appeal. Further, Payless shoes are comfortable because they fit so well! The metallic trend has been here a while, but these will be worn well past the “buzz” season! I do try to avoid fast fashion, but sometimes I simply need a pair of shoes that fit well on my tiny feet! Children’s size 2, this is not a typo !
Lace up Sweater Feature:
I like this sweater most because of its rich mèlange of color. In the biz, it is called a space-dye, the method in which this rich color play is created. The denim is a simple, well cut pair by Adriano Goldschmeid, also known as AG, and also bought second-hand. Tip: if you wear a size 24 or 25 you can get the best denim brands at resale for almost nothing !
Don’t you adore this tulle dress below next to my second shot of this outfit?! Dreamy right? I saw it recently on the UES while browsing for a Mother of the Groom’s dress, but this one is too dramatic and too full for that function, as well as for my petite frame. STILL, I SWOON!
Sharing some options to shop this trend. The lace up sweater is perfect for this chilly week we are having right now in New York!
From Revolve, this peach lace up sweater is soft and subtle and looks great with a summer tan! Not that you will ever see me sporting a deep tan! lol!
From Aqua by Bloomingdales this asymmetric lace-up is a fun novelty version and is easy on the wallet.
Sky blue is such a wonderful color, both on point and perennially popular. This is a fabulous bargain By Lucky Brand at $19.99 !
This sweater has a fun varsity appeal from Revolve.com. I kept this sweater selection in the low to mid price range.
There is a version of this sweater for every complexion and body size. It is an easy item for cool nights year-round.
SO dear readers, what say you to this trend? Do you own it? if you do how do you style it?
The lace up sweater :
Yay, or nay!
Now for the twist I promised you! Check the photo below and look closely! Which is me?

That is such a cute knit, a really lovely colour! I didn’t know you had a twin sister, amazing you look so alike! 🙂
I really like that limited edition of the neverfull – there have been a few I wanted but never got and I think I really should have splurged on them at the time as they are so expensive now!
Hope that you had a great weekend! I had a party and got the chance to spend a rare moment shopping without the kids yesterday which was wonderful! 🙂
Away From The Blue Blog
Shopping without the children sure sounds like a treat. And a well deserved one. My sister has very good taste and is very smart about what she purchases. If she were to sell this bag now she would actually make money. Isn’t that something to realize that you could buy something and sell it for more? In which case you were actually paid to wear an expensive bag.
Now I must see to borrowing it!
Lol. ❤️ Elle
You look amazing Elle… YES ❤️
Thanks so much Tina I really appreciate that. Have a great week ahead.

Wow Elle, your sis looks so like you! I really couldn’t tell, even not when I knew and checked the photos again. As for the lace up sweater, I have got a soft pastel pink one and it has become a favourite of mine over the past few months. I just love the playful element it adds to a simple sweater. As for your shoes: lovely. I wish I had a size 2! My feet are even smaller than yours, so I do quite some shoe shopping at the children’s department and like you, that means some challenges and often… Read more »
Wow your feet are even smaller than my sisters? I can’t imagine how you find shoes so small. These are from from Payless and they have wonderful shoes for children. We do look a lot alike as we age. Have a wonderful week.

What a great sweater in a beautiful color!

Love your orange lace up jumper! The shape is gorgeous! I have identical twin sisters, but they are not as identical as you guys! They used to play tricks like this in school haha! xx
Oh I am sure your sisters had a lot of fun playing pranks. But it’s wonderful to have sisters. Thanks so much for your lovely comment.

Precioso jersey en un color divino! Feliz semana guapa.
Thanks we do look a lot alike I think. I so appreciate your lovely comment. Feliz semana a ti. ❤️ Elle
At the first photo I thought: huh, is that Elle? But I thought it was because I’m wearing my sun glasses. It’s unbelievable that you are nearly sixty.
I often wear my sunglasses too. That is funny. Yes, time flies and 60 is just weeks away.
❤️ Elle
I love the colours of your lace up sweater, and it’s looking particularly fresh when worn with jeans! Children’s size 2! And I thought I had tiny feet … Obviously, there’s nothing wrong with wearing cheaper items with high end ones, surely. I’d never ever guessed that it was your twin sister! How fabulous! You’re both very stylish girls! Oh, and that dress: I’m swooning too! xxx
Thank you Ann. Yes that dress is totally stunning. My sister and I had great fun with this post as you can imagine!
❤️ Elle
Ha, you fooled me with your twin (!) sister, Elle! Lovely casual look – I’m not a fan of the lace-up tops, but that’s just me – it looks wonderful on you/your sister! Have a lovely week!
It’s funny that you mention it. It’s not my favorite either but I love it on my twin sister! I hope you’re having a great week.
❤️ Elle
Wow, you and your sister are really identical! That’s so cool!
Are you a mother of the groom? That tulle dress is gorgeous!
I like your sweater – the space-dye knit is more subtle than many I see.
Bettye
Thanks Bettye,
The knit is lovely because it is made by St. John. I will be mother of the groom next winter and I’m so excited! Have a great week .

I bet you and your twin have had some fun tricking people over the years- you certainly fooled me. You look great in your laced sweater , the colour is so good, I am rather fond of orange. Mixing high and low end and recycled is always the best way to go and creates an unique look. Enjoy your week. Jill xxx
I am so glad that you agree about these things Jill.
Yes we have had great fun over the years with these little pranks.
