My side ruffle skirt, in retrospect, was not the best choice for a day that had me dodging raindrops and wind gusts.
Look, and you will see that the side ruffle detail falls in the middle ! Oops! This was the second attempt to shoot this look, as shoot number one was too windblown . It seems I am wearing the side ruffle skirt in a new way; front ruffle skirt everyone! The new trend! Lol!
I am wearing my lace up tee as a peachy compliment to the red striped skirt by Tory Burch. I bought this skirt over two years ago at Goodwill for $15.00! My leaf printed umbrella, not my finest, is serviceable, light, and sturdy. Because it is so light, I carry it everywhere, and everyday ! I bought it at a mom-and-pop owned dollar store.
Target is opening up nearby and I think that this shop business will perish. Sad, the way the retail landscape is changing . I shop small whenever I can!
Styling ruffles at sixty can be tricky, so I relied on my funky floral platforms to change-up the vibe. A single statement ring and a simple side-pony cleaned up this almost fussy look!
So much rain has me down!
The skies are almost always grey and that is somewhat charming, but I do miss my aqua skies framing the tall buildings of Manhattan . As well, the frequency and ferocity of these storms has me worried about the future of our planet.
“Gotham City” vibes below in this snap of my neighborhood sky. Note, too, the way the tree is leaning in the wind.
But I smile and remember recent acts of kindnesses and generosity bestowed on me. August is always a month of quality family time, and what a large and fabulous family I have ! You have seen some shots on Instagram and I will post more soon. Today it is just a drizzle that comes and goes, so my perspective is broad and grateful even.
Peeking out on this dreary day!
Now let’s go back in time , perhaps two years ago, when I wore this skirt and was feeling festive!
See the post here, it s fun one and includes a wonderful model friend of mine.
Correct placement of the skirt for this photo shoot! My side ruffle skirt looks different here styled with black florals and cage booties. Hello, I am happy here! The world seemed simpler then, is that at all possible ?
,
So happy, I am dancing in the street!
What can I say, I was a youngster then at 57 or 58 ? It is much simpler to be optimistic when the sun is beaming in the sky, and the headlines are not so dire.
SUNNY DAYS, SUNNY MOODS. JUST NOT TODAY. STILL, I SMILE.
I wish you bright days ahead. Let me know who you have been faring! You know how!
That second look is fantastic! Those boots!!! Wow, I adore them. It s a grey sky here too and I don t like it at all!
That’s a pretty skirt, however you wear the ruffle! 🙂 It’s a shame you’ve had some bad weather, storms aren’t fun unless you can be safely indoors to watch them !I hope that the weather improves for you soon and you still get to enjoy your family time 🙂
Hope that you are having a lovely week so far 🙂

It’s always hard when Mother nature doesn’t cooperate, Elle! But really these photos make things look wonderful no matter what.

We have finally gotten some of the rain you have been having down there. Although it isn’t the best for getting out the garden really needed it.
Love both of these outfits.
That is a shame about Target.
Times were simpler two years ago. Funny how much can change so quickly.

Agreed… things are changing so fast and moving in the wrong direction…wah.. frivolity helps a bit, but still…

Whether it’s a side ruffle or front ruffle skirt, it is seriously fabulous! Love the wavy pattern! The rather frivolous lacy blouse is a perfect companion, and how cute is that umbrella! The skirt goes equally well with the floral blouse, though. But the real stars there must be those amazing cage booties! You’ve got such a great eye, Elle! xxx
I didn’t realize the weather has been blustery and rainy there. Of course it makes one feel a bit glum. But the sun will come out again. Hold on! Your photos cheer us up at least. Super styling, Elle. Each detail works off the other so very well. And I enjoyed seeing your previous shoot with this skirt and your friends and that ginormous bottle. Hahaha! I lift a glass of tea and say cheers to sunny skies ahead.
Thanks,
The giant bottle came compliments of the house… what a fun day…
Cheers to you my friend

Well, I love this skirt. the ruffles and the style. I don’t own too many striped skirts but i love striped skirts with an interesting detail and this is one ! You look beautiful in both looks, that peach lace top is so lovely with the lace up detail, the floral heels. I love those boots you are wearing too, so fantaastic! i seem to go crazy over boots as Fall draws near. I know what you mean about grey days… one of the reasons we moved from Pittsburgh to Charlotte, was more sun! Itll be gone before you know it.… Read more »
Yes, boots for fall… !
Feel well beautiful!

I will take that rain! Anything to wash away this smoke haze we’ve been having!
I adore this wonderful skirt, Elle! I like your styling – even though the other pieces are still quite femme/girly, the look doesn’t come across as uber-ruffles. It’s like magic!
Wishing you an end to your rain! And a happy week ahead.
Thanks sweet friend. I always appreciate your insight.
The rain is gone, but it is crazy hot!
Hope the haze is gone .

I love ruffles so much Elle, that I can only compliment you on the skirt. Mine happen to be all florals, so it was nice to see how well ruffles work with a different pattern too. Love, Lieske
I think we are both relatively festive people. It makes sense that we might like styles like these. Sending you love from New York.

Elle, I love the mix of pink and red here, I think that’s so chic! Beautiful!
