On Thursday, I incorporated a writing contest into my post Embellishment. I have many gifted writers who follow me, and two are published. So I suppose it is no surprise that BOTH content winners tied for first place in the contest!
Please congratulate Natalia from In the Writer’s Closet –
and
Glenda K. Harrison of So What to Twenty!
I hope you will take a minute to visit their sites, so you can appreciate their style and their outstanding writing ability. In an image-driven world, it is so wonderful that both of these talented women use language so masterfully, as well as photos and art, in making their posts so outstanding.
Glenda and Natalia, please contact me via email with a shipping address so I can send your prizes!
The contest: Here is the paragraph that I lead off with:
Her mind was whirring tempestuously, even though her feet were planted firmly on the rocky path. What just happened, she wondered. To her chagrin and embarrassment, she wondered this aloud and to no one. Soon, it would be clear. She knew this fully. But for now, she could not shake this eerie foreboding that something major was about to change.. ( Natalia added the below)
She turned around to continue her journey when suddenly realized that something got stuck in the thorns of the bushy undergrowth just behind her. She reached with her hand, almost automatically, without giving the subject much of a thought, and…
“O! What is it?” she asked, though there was still no one near her to answer.
A pair of big, beautiful snow-white wings that stuck in a bush, appeared to be nothing less than her own. A smile lit up her face, and a warm feeling, as if from the sunshine, run through her whole being. She touched the wings with her palms, took a deep sip of fresh, intoxicating air, stepped forward and took off.
🙂
Again, I started the contest with this paragraph:
Her mind was whirring tempestuously, even though her feet were planted firmly on the rocky path. What just happened, she wondered. To her chagrin and embarrassment, she wondered this aloud and to no one. Soon, it would be clear. She knew this fully. But for now she could not shake this eerie foreboding that something major was about to change.. ( Glenda added…)
..for she was not alone. Hidden behind the brush was a man who had the capabilities to make all her dreams come true. Without her knowledge, he snapped a photo of her. She was, in his opinion, a woman of great vitality and imagination. She peaked his curiosity, and caused his artistic prowess to soar. ‘Who was this gem of a woman?’ He wondered. He stood idle for a moment or two longer…analyzing her every move, the shape of her physique…the way she moved. Slowly, he emerged from the brush, and began to walk towards the mysterious woman. She felt the presence of someone and quickly turned around – startled, she backed away…
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to frighten you. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Marc Jacobs.”
“Yes, I recognize your face,”
“I hope you don’t find this strange, but I’ve been watching you, and…”
“You have?”
“Yes, I was wondering if you would be my muse?”
